1. Any and all copyright and any other intellectual property regarding the Software remain solely the property of Destiny Technology Corporation (hereinafter "Destiny") and MURATA MACHINERY,LTD. (hereinafter "Murata").

2. You may use the Software only in the country of your purchase and only for the purpose of using the hardware of Murata and other companies approved by Murata (hereinafter "OEM Companies").

3. You may use the Software only in compliance with notices and restrictions written in "User's Guide" and other documents contained in this package.

4. You must not modify, alter all or any part of the Software. You must not make any attempt to discover the source code of the Software by any method including reverse-engineering, de-compiling, or de-assembling.

5. You must not sell, transfer, rent, lease or sublicense the Software to any third party by transmitting the software via phone-line or network, or by copying the software to floppy disk, CD-ROM, magnetic data tape or any other media.

This ReadMe file provides specific installation instructions, precautions, restrictions and other information of Muratec PostScript Printer Description file you should know before you install and use them. Installation instructions are provided for the following operating systems:

	* Mac OS 9.x
	* Mac OS 10.1.x

For the detailed information, refer to the the printer user's guide.

This Muratec PostScript Printer Description file enable to operate printer function either in local(via USB-Parallel Cable) and network connected environment.

III. INSTALLATION/UNINSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

*** Mac OS 9 ***
(1) Installing the LaserWriter 8 Driver
  1. Activate the "Chosser" from the Apple menu.
  2. Confirm that "LaserWriter 8" icon is in the chosser.
     If the "LaserWriter 8" printer driver is not installed, download the printer driver from Apple computer's Web site, then install it to your Macintosh computer.

(2) Installing the PostScript Printer Description file
  1. Insert the Muratec printers drivers CD into the CD-ROM driver.
  2. Double-click the CD icon to open it.
  3. Navigate to the CD-->Printer-->PS-->MacOS9.
  4. On your local hard drive, open the "Sytem Folder".
  5. Open the "Extensions" folder.
  6. Open the "Printer Descriptions" folder.
  7. Drag the "Dpcem9.ppd" that is in the "MacOS9" folder to the "Printer Descriptions" folder.

(3) Create the Desktop Printer
  1. Navigate to your local hard disk-->Applications(Mac OS 9)-->Utilities.
  2. Double-click the "Desktop Printer Utility" icon. 
     The New Desktop Printer dialog box is displayed.
     If the "Desktop Printer Utility" does not open to a new printer dialog box, select "New" from the File pull-down menu on the menu bar.
  3. From the With pull-down menu, select "LaserWriters 8".
  4. In the Create Desktop area, select either "Printer(AppleTalk)","Printer(LPR)" or "Printer(USB)".
     Then click"OK".
  5. In the "PostScript Printer Description (PPD) File", click "Change".
  6. Select the "Dpcem9.ppd" from the printer list, and then click "Select".
  7. For USB, follow these steps:
     a. Select "Change" in the "USB Printer Selection" field.
     b. Select the "Doc Pilot PostScript 2" from the displayed list of available printers, then click "OK".
     c. Click "Create".
     d. Select "Desktop" to create the new printer on the desktop, enter the printer name and click "Save".  
        If you want to rename the printer, enter the new name in the "Save desktop printer as:" field in the save dialog box that is displayed.

     For AppleTalk, follow these steps:
     a. Select "Change" in the "AppleTalk Printer Selection" field.
     b. Select the AppleTalk zone.
     c. Select the "Doc Pilot PostScript 2" from the displayed list of available printers, then click "OK".
     d. Click "Create".
     e. Select "Desktop" to create the new printer on the desktop, enter the printer name and click "Save".
        If you want to rename the printer, enter the new name in the "Save desktop printer as:" field in the save dialog box that is displayed.

     For LPR, follow these steps:
     a. Select Change in the "LPR Printer Selection" field.
     b. Enter the IP address or domain name of the printer.
     c. Enter the name of the desired printer queue in the "Queue" field.
     d. Select "Verify" to verify the network connection to the printer, then select "OK".
     e. Select "Create".
     f. Select "Desktop" to create the new printer on the desktop, enter the printer name and click "Save".
        If you want to rename the printer, enter the new name in the "Save desktop printer as:" field in the save dialog box that is displayed.
  8. Close the Desktop Printer Utility.

*** Mac OS X ***
(1) Network protocol setting
  *** Note ***  For USB connection, the following setting is not required.
  1. Activate the "System Preference" from the Apple menu.
  2. Click "Network" icon.
  3. From the Show: pull-down menu, select "Network Port Configurations".
  4. In the Port Configuration area, confirm that the Built-in Ethernet is selected.
  5. From the Show: pull-down menu, select "Built-in Ethernet".
  6. For AppleTalk, follow these steps:
     a. Click "AppleTalk" tab.
     b. Confirm that the "Make AppleTalk Active" is selected.
     For LPR, follow these steps:
     a. Click "TCP/IP" tab.
     b. Enter the IP address.
  7. Quit the System Preference.

(2) Adding the Printer
  1. Insert the Muratec printer drivers CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Run the Print Center. Navigate to your local hard disk-->Applications-->Utilities-->Print Center.
  3. Click "Add Printer".
  4. For USB, follow these steps:
     a. Select "USB" from the drop down menu.
     b. Highlight the "Doc Pilot PostScript 2".
     c. From the Printer Model: pull-down menu, select "Other...".
     e. Navigate to the CD-->Printer-->PS-->MacOSX.
     f. Select the "dpcem10.ppd", then click "Choose".
     g. Click "Add".
     
     For AppleTalk, follow these steps:
     a. Select "AppleTalk" from the drop down menu.
     b. Highlight the "Doc Pilot PostScript 2".
     c. From the Printer Model: pull-down menu, select "Other...".
     e. Navigate to the CD-->Printer-->PS--> MacOSX.
     f. Select the "dpcem10.ppd", then click "Choose".
     g. Click "Add".
     
     For LPR, follow these steps:
     a. Select "IP Printing" from the drop down menu.
     b. Enter the printer's IP address. Contact your network administrator for this information.
     c. From the Printer Model: pull-down menu, select "Other...".
     e. Navigate to the CD-->Printer-->PS-->MacOSX.
     f. Select the "dpcem10.ppd", then click "Choose".
     g. Click "Add".
  5. Quit the Print Center.

SORT PRINTING FUNCTION                                      
============================================================
If your software application has a collate option (Sort option), use it insted of the collate option in the printer driver.

USB-PARALLEL PRINTER CABLE                                  
============================================================
When you use the PostScript driver with a USB-Parallel printer cable, set the "Local PS Print" to "On" and select "Mac" as "PC Type" on your machine.
For the detailed information of the "Local PS Print setting" and "Connecting the machine to the computer", refer to the printer user's guide.

We have tested the following USB-Parallel cables:

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
