This Printer Driver (Doc Pilot) enable to operate printer function either in local and network connected environment.
For installation, local workstation user needs the installation CD-ROM (Printer Driver/Print Monitor Setup Disc). Network clients can also install it from the network directory, in which the contents of software are copied.

This software is compatible with PC/AT compatible machines.
It can be installed in the following operating systems:

To use this software, the optional PS Upgrade Chip should be attached to your machine.

This software is composed with the Printer Driver (Doc Pilot PostScript 2) and the Print Monitor (Remote Shuttle for PostScript 2).

Printer Driver (Doc Pilot PostScript 2)                     
------------------------------------------------------------

Printer Driver is a software program that enables your application software to access your printer's features. 
Generally, you should install a printer driver supporting your printer and its printing language.

This software includes the following printer drivers.

	* PostScript 2 Printer Driver

Refer to the printer driver help files for instructions on using specific printing features.

Print Monitor (Remote Shuttle for PostScript 2)             
------------------------------------------------------------
This software also includes Print Monitor (Remote Shuttle for PostScript 2).

Using Print Monitor system, you can recognize the status of the printer via parallel port, such as ready, paper jam and so on, and also can get and set the default value of the printer parameters from your PC easily and in time.

If you are not using bi-directional communication support machine, this function might not work properly.

*** NOTE ***
This function can not be used via USB-Parallel cable.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION                                    
============================================================

The installer provides two installation options.

* Installation from Setup.exe 

  By using Setup.exe file, you can install all or custom selected printer software into your target system. If you use the printer on the local workstation, we recommend you to use this method.

* Installation from Add Printer Wizard(*.inf) in System Printer folder

  By using Add Printer Wizard, you can select and install an objective driver into your system. If you use the printer on the network, we recommend you to use this method.

Installation from Setup.exe                                 
------------------------------------------------------------

  Use the installation CD-ROM (Printer Driver/Print Monitor Setup Disc), or network clients can also install it from the network directory, in which the contents of software are copied.

*** Windows(R) 95/ Windows(R) 98/ Windows(R) Me/ Windows NT(R) 4.0/ Windows(R) 2000 ***

  1. Make sure that the cable between your machine and your computer is securely connected.
  2. If you open the applications, close all applications. Turn off virus checkers and Terminate Stay Resident (TSR) programs. After installation, these programs can be turned back on.
     If your machine and/or computer are turn off, turn on the machine and the computer.
     *** NOTE ***
     If the "add New Hardware Wizard" or "Found New Hardware Wizard" appears, Do NOT use the wizard. Click "Cancel" to close it.
  3. Insert the Muratec printers drivers CD into the CD-ROM driver.
  4. Click "Run" from the Start menu.
  5. Browse to the Setup directory on the CD-ROM drive.
  6. Select the "Setup.exe" file, click "OK".
  7. The "Doc Pilot PostScript 2 setup" dialog box will appears. Click "Next".
  8. Read the Software Licement Agreement carefully and, if you agree, click "Yes".
     *** NOTE ***
     To cancel the setup, click "No".
  9. Click "Local", then "Next".
 10. Select port, then "Next". (Usally select LPT1 port.)
 11. Follw the instruction that appears on screen.
     *** NOTE ***
     If the notice of "Microsoft Digital Signature" appears, click "Yes".
 12. Click "Finish" to complete the installation.

*** Windows(R) XP ***

  1. Make sure that the cable between your machine and your computer is securely connected.
  2. If you open the applications, close all applications. Turn off virus checkers and Terminate Stay Resident (TSR) programs. After installation, these programs can be turned back on.
     If your machine and/or computer are turn off, turn on the machine and the computer.
     *** NOTE ***
     If the "Found New Hardware Wizard" appears, Do NOT use the wizard. Click "Cancel" to close it.
  3. Insert the Muratec printers drivers CD into the CD-ROM driver.
  4. Click "Run" from the Start menu.
  5. Browse to the Setup directory on the CD-ROM drive.
  6. Select the "Setup.exe" file, click "OK".
  7. The "Doc Pilot PostScript 2 setup" dialog box will appears. Click "Next".
  8. Read the Software Licement Agreement carefully and, if you agree, click "Yes".
     *** NOTE ***
     To cancel the setup, click "No".
  9. Click "Local", then "Next".
 10. Select port, then "Next". (Usally select LPT1 port.)
 11. Follw the instruction that appears on screen.
     *** NOTE ***
     If the notice of Windows Logo Testing appears, click "Continue Anyway".
 12. Click "Finish".
 13. Restart your computer.
     The "Found New Hardware Wizard" appears again.
 14. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and thenclick "Next".
 15. Check "Show compatible hardware".
 16. Select "Doc Pilot PostScript 2" in the Printers area, then click "Next".
 17. If the notice of Window Logo Testing appears, click "Continue Anyway".
 18. When prompted the "DPCEPS.DLL" file, click "Browse" to navigate to your CD-ROM drive:
     \printer\ps\winxp\ps2\(dpceps.dll)
 19. Click "Open".
 20. Click "OK".
 21. Click "Finish" to complete the installation.

Installation from Add Printer Wizard (only Printer Driver)  
------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Close all applications. Turn off virus checkers and Terminate Stay Resident (TSR) programs. After installation, these programs can be turned back on.
  2. Click on "Start", "Settings" and "Printers". (In Windows XP, click "Printers and Faxes")
  3. Double click on "Add Printer". (In Windows XP, click "Add a printer")
  4. Answer the questions in the Add Printer Wizard until you reach the screen with the printer manufacturer list.
  5. Click on "Have Disk".
  6. Browse to the driver location using CD-ROM option and find the appropriate directory for your operating system.
  7. Select "*.inf" file from  PS2 or SETUP directory. Normally, select from PS2 directory.
  8. Click "Open" and "OK".
  9. Select the appropriate printer (PS Driver).
 10. Follow the remaining instructions to complete the printer installation. At this point, the driver will be copied to your hard disk and added to the list of installed printers.

*** NOTE ***
Administrator privileges are required to install the software onto a Windows NT(R) 4.0 system, a Windows(R) 2000 system and a Windows(R) XP system.

UNINSTALLER/UNINSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

This software contains Uninstaller.
When you installed the software using Setup.exe, you can use the Uninstall icon in the Doc Pilot program group and remove all of the software for Printer Driver and Print Monitor.

*** NOTE ***
No Uninstaller is available when driver is installed from "Add Printers".

Administrator privileges are required to uninstall the software onto a Windows NT(R) 4.0 system, a Windows(R) 2000 system and a Windows(R) XP system.

1. In Doc Pilot Program Group, click the Uninstall icon. Or in the "Add/Remove application" property of Control Panel in Windows 95/98/Me, Windows NT(R) 4.0, Windows(R) 2000 and Windows(R) XP click "Doc Pilot PostScript 2".
2. Click "Yes" when uninstall program ask a confirm question.
3. Follow the prompts.

*** NOTE ***
After you uninstalled the software onto a Windows(R) 95/98/Me by the Uninstall icon, use the installation CD-ROM and install software by using the "Setup.exe" file under the Setup directory.

1. If you run Print Monitor and/or Printer Control Panel, please quit these programs, and try again.
2. If your PC printer port is set to ECP mode, change to Nibble mode. (only for Windows95/98/Me )

LPT1 WRITE ERROR                                            
============================================================

If you encounter this problem, please try the following ways.

1. Check printer is ON.
2. If you run Print Monitor or Printer Control Panel, please quit these programs, and try again.
3. If your PC printer port is set to ECP mode, change to Nibble mode. (only for Windows(R) 95/98/Me )

CAN NOT PRINT SOME GRAPHICS OR SOME CHARACTERS CORRECTLY

1. Set TrueType Mode setting on the Fonts tab of the Printer Driver to "Send Fonts as Bitmaps" or "Send Fonts as Outlines".

In Windows NT(R) 4.0/Windows(R) 2000/XP 
----------------------------------------

PRINTING FUNCTION                                           
============================================================
When printing a PDF data using the PostScript 2 Printer Driver, the functions "FitToPage","Combine" and "WaterMark"may not work. 
To use these functions, please use the PCL Printer Driver instead of the PostScript 2 Printer Driver.

USB-PARALLEL PRINTER CABLE                                  
============================================================
When you use the PostScript driver with a USB-Parallel printer cable, set the "Local PS Print" to "On" and select "Windows" as "PC Type" on your machine.
For the detailed information of the "Local PS Print setting" and "Connecting the machine to the computer", refer to the printer user's guide.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
