Installation requires administration privileges on the target computer.

The installation package works with Microsoft(TM) Windows Installer as of
version 2.0, means this version of the Windows Installer must be installed
on the target system.

The version of the Windows Installer can by checked by using the command
"msieexec /?" from the command line prompt.

If there is no Windows Installer at all (or in a version below V2.0) on the
target computer, we provide the Windows Installer V2.0 setup on this CD-ROM
in the path "\software\CherryTools\[Runtime/Full]Edition\Windows Installer", whereas

 instmsia.exe (a = ansi) is for MS Windows 9x (98, ME)
 instmsiw.exe (w = wide character) is for MS Windows NT4 (NT4, 2000)

Command line parameter for silent installation of the Windows Installer setups:
"/Q", e.g. "instmsia.exe /Q" or "instmsiw /Q"

A reboot is recommended after the setup of the Windows Installer has finished and
before you go on with the installation of "Cherry Tools Runtime" (as the return value of
"instmsi[a/w].exe" is being interpreted).

By using its standard command-line capabilities, the Windows Installer provides the option
to install packages (*.msi) unattended (see also the Windows Installer documentation by Microsoft(TM)).

In order to install "Cherry Tools" or "Cherry Tools Runtime" unattended execute a command,
having the following structure:

e.g.: "msiexec /I "c:\temp\CherryTools.msi" /q
(Giving the full path information like "c:\temp\CherryTools.msi" requires the option "/I" in
front of the path information).

In order to uninstall the package unattended execute a command having the following structure:

e.g.: "msiexec /x{738C7D52-D1C9-403D-B132-22DD513731D1} /q"

In order to prevent the computer from rebooting after (un)installation you have
to add "CANCEL_REBOOT=1" to the command.
Normally the installed drivers are active only after rebooting the computer!

If you do not want the software to be installed in "%ProgramFiles%\Cherry", add the key

"INSTALLDIR="[full path to target-directory]\cherry""

to the command, whereas "[full path to target-directory]\cherry" is just an example.

If individual configuration files (*.csf, *.ccf, *.cmf, *.cct, *.ccr. *.bin) are to be deleted
after uninstallation add "REMOVAL_UI_EXECUTED=1 TYPE_OF_REMOVAL=ALL" to the command.
Leaving these keys out configuration files will remain on the computer.

If you would like to log (un)installation add a key like "/lie c:\log.txt"

By default drivers for PS/2, USB and USB hub are being installed.
If only PS/2 is meant to be supported add "SKIPINTERFACE=USB" to the command.

If only USB keyboards are meant to be supported add "SKIPINTERFACE=PS2" to the command.

If no drivers for the USB hub are meant to be installed add "SKIPHUB=1" to the command.

Using the options mentioned above, a command for installation could look like this:

msiexec /I "c:\temp\CherryTools.msi" INSTALLDIR="c:\Programme\etc" CANCEL_REBOOT=1 SKIPINTERFACE=USB /lie c:\log.txt /q

Using the options mentioned above a command for uninstallation could look like this:

msiexec /x{738C7D52-D1C9-403D-B132-22DD513731D1} CANCEL_REBOOT=1 REMOVAL_UI_EXECUTED=1 TYPE_OF_REMOVAL=ALL /lie c:\log.txt /q
