How to use VIAFIRE.exe to test 1394 PCI?
First please put the following files on the same folder.
    
    1.viafire.exe
    2.6306_10.eep
    3.dos4gw.exe

There are two methods that test VT6306 on DOS environment
You can choose one of two methods.
1.
 Sigle PC system:(suggestion)
      Insert the least two VIA's 1394 card into PCI slot.
      for example:
      (test 3 port 1394 card,so we need 3 Reference Card;
       connect 3 reference card to test card) 	
     
      (1)The following method is for lab testing 
         .run viafire.exe
         .found card (press any key to continue)
         .select end (choose testing and reference end)
         .main menu (F3:multiple cards test(loop))
         .select testing card (for viewing test result)	
  
      (2)The following method is for manufacturing
         You can commandline parameter to automatically test.
         viafire [-a xxx] [-t x] [-p x] 
                 [-a xxx] : For autoexecute, xxx indicates count number.; 
                 [-t x] : Set the Testcard Number, x indicates PCI slot.; 
                 [-p x] : Set number of test port, x indicates how many ports assigned to test.; 
                          ex. -p 1 :detecting port 1 of the 1394 card
                          ex. -p 2 :detecting port 1 and 2 of the 1394 card
                          ex. -p 3 :detecting port 1,2 and 3 of the 1394 card

         Example : viafire -a 100 -t 3 -p 3; 
                   Set card which is on PCI 3 autoexecute 100 times test. 
                   And the port(0,1,2) of this card is connected. 
2.Two PC system:
      for example:
                (test one 3 port 1394 card,so we need 3 Reference Card;
                 connect 3 reference card to test card) 

      Reference End:(insert 3 reference card)
	 .run viafire.exe	
	 .Select End (choose Reference End)

      Testing End:(insert one 1394 test card)
	 .run viafire.exe
         .Select End (choose Testing End)
	 .choose F3:multiple cards test(loop)       
	 .select testing card (for viewing test result)

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
