Floppy.Sys is a driver to fix the Microsoft Windows NT flex disk access problem on the NCR 3230 Local Bus and the NCR 3333 Systems. SYMPTOMS: 1. You have to insert a floppy diskette twice to get the system to recognize the diskette. 2. You are unable to format a floppy diskette. Therefore, a format failure occurs when the system attempts to make an Emergency Repair Disk. 3. You are unable to write files to a floppy diskette and it may damage the current files on the floppy diskette. The Floppy.BAT file copies the original driver FLOPPY.SYS to FLOPPY.ORG and installs the new FLOPPY.SYS driver in the correct Windows NT subdirectory. PERFORM THE FOLLOWING TO PLACE THE DOWNLOADED FILE ON THE HARD DRIVE AND EXTRACT THE FILES: 1. Login to Windows NT as the Administrator. 2. At the Main Window, select the Command Prompt. 3. Copy the downloaded file FDD_FIX.EXE to a directory on your hard drive. 4. Change directories to the directory where you copied the downloaded file. 5. Run the FDD_FIX.EXE file. 6. Exit the Command Prompt window. PERFORM THE FOLLOWING TO SETUP THE FLOPPY DRIVER FOR MANUAL START: 1. At the Main window, select the Control Panel. 2. At the Control Panel window, select Devices. 3. At the Devices window, scroll until you find Floppy. Highlight Floppy and select Startup. 4. At the Floppy Device window, select Manual and then OK. 5. At the Main window, select File and then Shutdown. Select the Restart Option and then OK. PERFORM THE FOLLOWING TO BACKUP THE ORIGINAL DRIVER AND INSTALL THE NEW DRIVER: 1. When the system re-boots, login to Windows NT as the Administrator. 2. At the Main Window, select the Command Prompt. 3. Change directories to the directory where you copied the downloaded file (FDD_FIX.EXE). 4. Run the FLOPPY.BAT file. 5. Exit the Command Prompt window. PERFORM THE FOLLOWING TO ENABLE THE FLOPPY DRIVER TO BE STARTED BY THE SYSTEM AND VERIFY FIX: 1. At the Main window, select the Control Panel. 2. At the Control Panel window, select Devices. 3. At the Devices window, scroll until you find Floppy. Highlight Floppy and select Startup. 4. At the Floppy Device window, select System and then OK. 5. At the Main window, select File and then Shutdown. Select the Restart Option and then OK. 6. When the system re-boots, verify that the floppy drive recognizes a diskette on the first insertion and that files can be written to the flex drive.Download Driver Pack
