------------------------ Release Notes AVerTV STUDIO II ------------------------ Clevo Computer Company. ------------------- System Requirements ------------------- To use TV STUDIO II, the minimum system requirements are: 1. CPU : Pentium IV 2 Gig or Higher/AMD 2100XP or Higher. 2. Operating System : Windows 2000/XP. 3. Interface : USB2.0. 4. Audio Line-in from Sound Card. 5. AGP 4X Graphic VGA Card. 6. Memory : 256 DDR (Direct DRAM). 7. CD or DVD Burner Required for Recording CDs or DVDs (not included). ------------ CD Contents ------------ 1. AVerTV STUDIO II driver for Windows 2000/XP ------------- Installation ------------- 1.(DO NOT PLUG IN YOUR "AVerTV STUDIO II" DEVICE BEFORE CD INSTALLATION) Before installing the AVerTV STUDIO II driver and AverTV STUDIO II, please make sure that your USB 2.0 host controller driver has been successfully installed. For installing USB 2.0 host controller driver, please refer to "Installing USB 2.0 Host Controller driver FAQs". 2. Please insert AVerTV STUDIO II installation CD into your CD-ROM, the "Autorun" in the CD will run automatically into your CD-ROM, the "Autorun" in the CD will run automatically. If the "Autorun" in the CD is not running, please open the CD from Windows Explorer and double-click "autorun.exe". 3. Click "Install/Uninstall Driver" to install your driver. The driver setup will first check whether your USB 2.0 host controller and its driver is ready. If the USB 2.0 host controller is not ready, the driver setup will not be able to continue. If you are sure that your USB 2.0 host controller and its driver has been installed, please insert your setup CD into your CD-ROM, click "Browse CD" and access to the "Driver" subdirectory in the CD, and double click "Setup.exe". 4. After you complete the driver installation, you will be directed to plug in your "AVerTV STUDIO II " device. Then clickon "AverTV STUDIO II" from the "Autorun" menu to install the application for movie capturing and CD/DVD burning. 5. If you want to remove the driver or the application, please refer to "Driver removal". ---------------- Getting Started ---------------- 1. Start "AverTV STUDIO II" either from the Windows desktop or the Start menu. 2. We recommend that first tem users view the self-paced "Tutorial" to get a better understanding of what you can do with "AverTV STUDIO II". 3. You can record DVD movie to your hard disk or your DVD/CD burning ROM (DVD-RW, DVD+RW, CD-RW). The burning media can be DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD+RW VR or CD-R/RW. ------------------------------------------------ Installing USB 2.0 Host Controller driver FAQs ------------------------------------------------ Q: How can I use AVerTV STUDIO II under Windows XP? A: Before using "AVerTV STUDIO II ", you have to ensure that the USB 2.0 host controller driver has been ready in your system. Please install the USB 2.0 host controller driver which accompanied with your host controller card or your mainboard. Or you can download the driver from Microsoft especially when your USB 2.0 host controller chipset is NEC chipset. The USB 2.0 support is now available in Windows XP Service Pack 1, and you may not need to download the driver. If you have not had Windows XP Service Pack1 installed in your computer, you have to install the USB 2.0 host controller driver through "Windows Update". Please click the following link to go to the "Windows Update" website: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ When you get into the page, please click the "Windows Update Catalog" link at the right pane of the page. If the "Windows Update Catalog" link does not appear, please do the following steps to make it visible. 1. Click "Personalize Windows Update". 2. Click "Display Windows Update Catalog" on the right pane. 3. Click "Update" button to save the setting. Please do the following steps to download the driver. 1. Click the "Find driver updates for hardware devices" link. 2. Click "Other hardware". 3. In the "Manufacturer" name box, click "Microsoft Corporation". 4. In the "Operating System" box, click "Windows XP family". 5. Click "Search". 6. Download the driver that is named "Microsoft USB Driver Version 5.1.2600.0." A: Please refer to "How can I use AVerTV STUDIO II in Windows XP?". Please be aware that if you are going to download the driver from "Windows Update", you have to choose "Windows 2000 family" in item 4. --------------- Driver Removal --------------- 1. There are two ways to uninstall the driver. Please open "Control Panel" and then "Add or Remove Programs", select "AVerTV STUDIO II Driver" and click "Change/Remove". Or insert the setup CD and click "Install/Uninstall Driver" from the "Autorun" menu. 2. To remove AverTV STUDIO II, select "AverTV STUDIO II" and click "Change/Remove" in "Control Panel". --------------- Known issues --------------- 1. If your USB 2.0 host controller chipset is VIA VT6202 or your motherboard chipset contains VIA chipset (VT8235), and your "AVerTV STUDIO II " is not working properly, please go to VIA website to download the latest driver. You are suggested to purchase another USB 2.0 host controller card in different brand, e.g. NEC, if the problem cannot be resolved. 2. If your USB 2.0 host controller driver is OrangeMicro, and there are some short green lines when you are watching video with Ulead MovieFactory, please go to OrangeMicro website (www.orangemicro.com) or Windows Update website (www.windowsupdate.com) to download the latest USB 2.0 host controller driver. 3. We suggest you to upgrade your Windows XP system to Windows XP Service Pack 1 if you encounter any compatibility problem of USB 2.0 host controller driver and "AVerTV USB 2.0 Video Capture" device. You can upgrade your system to Windows XP Service Pack 1 through "Microsoft Windows Update" website (www.windowsupdate.com). Windows XP Service Pack 1 includes most of the USB 2.0 host controller driver. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
