Steps to make a DISKFW3-ready image from a raw firmware image: 1) Determine the model number of the disk(s) you are interested in. You can see this displayed during boot, or use a tool such as DOS DISKFW3 or NT SLIST to display it, if you are not sure. 2) See if the disk is a model that is contained in the dwnldus.hlp file. Entries have the form: <vendor> e.g. "SEAGATE" <product> e.g. "ST15150W" <filename> e.g. "ST_4BARR.BIN" 3) If your model is in the dwnldus.hlp file, use the filename there as the target image filename. Otherwise, use the following filename convention: [SCSI Product ID, 8 chars max].IMG (e.g.: st34573w.img) 4) Run the following command: FWHDR <raw image filename> <vendor> <product> <rev> The fwhdr program will prepend a header to the image, and name the output file after the input filename, with the suffix ".img". Rename the output file to the target image filename determined above in step 3. 5) Now copy the new *.img file to the diskette. You may have to delete other firmware images to allow enough space. Note that to get disk firmware for NCR Symbios RAID devices, you should go to ftp://diskt1.sandiegoca.ncr.com/pub/released/drive/. -------- To add an entry to the table in dwnldus.hlp, add lines to the table in dwnldus.hlp with the following information: <vendor> e.g. "SEAGATE" <product> e.g. "ST39173W" <filename> e.g. "ST39173.IMG" Then "copy /b dl.exe+dwnldus.hlp download.exe" to update the program. and copy the resulting download.exe and new image to the diskette.Download Driver Pack
