README.TXT Driver File Contents (CYRIX.EXE)

The cyrix utility files included are meant to help with scanning issues on cyrix computer systems. They are not meant to be used together. Either use the Pipeloop.exe file or the Cyrix.exe file. Below are the steps to setup both of the files. Before doing anything, these files need to be copied to your hard drive. Use the steps below to accomplish that.

Steps to cyrix files to your hard drive:
1. Click "Start" then "Programs". Select "MS-DOS Prompt"
2. At your MS-DOS Prompt, type in the following command: "Copy A:\*.*  C:\
3. Then press your enter key.
4. Type in exit to return to windows.

Pipeloop.exe install steps:
1. Click "Start" then "Run". Type in "Sysedit".
2. The first window that is shown is the "C:\Autoexec.bat" file. At the very bottom of that     file listing, type in the following: "C:\Pipeloop  -e"
3. After this is done click "File" then "Exit".  It will prompt you to save before closing.
4. The computer will need to be restarted in order for the change to take effect.
5.  After a restart of the computer, you will want to attempt to do scan.

If you still can't scan after installing the Pipeloop.exe file, then you will need to use the BTB.exe file instead.

Pipeloop.exe removal steps:
1.  Click "Start" then "Run". Type in "Sysedit".
2. The first window that is shown is the "C:\Autoexec.bat" file. At the very bottom of that             file listing, delete the following: "C:\Pipeloop  -e"
3. After it is deleted, Click "File" then "Exit". You will be prompted to save. 
4. You will need to restart your computer so the changes can take effect.

BTB_OFF.exe install steps:
1. On you windows 95 desktop click your right-mouse button.
2. Then select "New", then "Shortcut".
3. You will be prompted for a command line entry. Type in "C:\BTB_OFF". Then click         "Next".          
4. You will be prompted for a name of shortcut. Type in "Turn BTB Off". Then click         "Next".

BTB_ON.exe install steps:
Complete steps 1 through 4 from the "BTB_OFF.exe install steps". The only thing you will do differently are in steps 3 & 4. 
In step 3 change the "C:\BTB_OFF" to "C:\BTB_ON".
In step 4 change the "Turn BTB Off" to "Turn BTB On".

You will need to Use the "Turn BTB Off" when you want to scan. When your finished with your scanning, use the "Turn BTB On" icon. So when you want to scan double-click on the "Turn BTB Off" icon. When your scanning session is finished, double-click on the "Turn BTB On" icon.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
