README.TXT Driver File Contents (ne2000p3.zip)

NOTE:

This directory contains only an OS/2 driver. This driver must be used
with the OS\2 requester to establish networking operations.

                 802.2 Default Frame Type

Novell's Ethernet ODI workstation drivers default to the 802.2 frame
type. Older Ethernet drivers default to the 802.3 frame type. Only the
IPX protocol can use the 802.3 frame type. The change to 802.2 allows
compatability with, and greater connectivity to future products.

Driver frame types can be changed from default to another frame type by
using the FRAME command in the workstation NET.CFG file with a valid
"frame type" parameter.

Valid "frame types" include:

                 ETHERNET_802.2
                 ETHERNET_802.3
                 ETHERNET_II
                 ETHERNET_SNAP

When using the OS/2 ODI workstation driver (802.3 frame type) found on this
diskette, make sure that your server uses the same frame type. The server
LAN driver frame type can be configured by using the FRAME = "frame type"
parameter when loading and binding the server driver.

For more information on NET.CFG parameters, see "NetWare Workstation for
DOS" or "ODI for DOS User's Guide".
