To upgrade your RCD-1000 firmware follow these instructions: Contents: WINDOWS 95 USERS WINDOWS 95 USERS & PLUG and PLAY(PnP) WINDOWS 3.xx USERS WINDOWS 95 USERS: ----------------- 1.) Restart in MSDOS mode and install your EZSCSI software from Adaptec by running DOSINST from the EZSCSI diskette. 2.) EZSCSI will automatically install the 16-bit ASPI manager in your Config.sys file. If you are using the AHA-1535 card provided, you should see the following line in the Config.sys file: DEVICE=C:\SCSI\ASPI4DOS.SYS /D 3.) Restart system in MSDOS Mode 4.) Go to the directory with the firmware you just downloaded 5.) Run the program called "CDOWN384" You will see the firmware get loaded into your computers memory. 6.) When prompted "Waiting for user" hit the F2 key 7.) Answer "Y" to the question and hit the ENTER key 8.) When you are prompted again with "Waiting for user", hit the ESC key twice to exit. You firmware download is complete now. 9.) Erase the firmware files as they can only cause trouble at this point. (CDOWN384.EXE, RCD1000.235, RCD235.EXE, README.TXT) 10.) Edit your config.sys file and delete the line that contains the ASPI manager(DEVICE=C:\SCSI\ASPI4DOS.SYS /D /P130) - Reboot your computer WINDOWS 95 USERS & PLUG and PLAY(PnP) ------------------------------------- If you are using your AHA-1535 card in PnP mode, then follow these instructions: 1.) Right mouse click on the "My Computer" icon in your Win95 desktop. - Point to Properties and click the left mouse button. - Left click on the "Device Manager" tab - Left click on the "+" next to the SCSI CONTROLLERS line - Double left click on the 1535 Plug and Play driver - Left click on the "Resources" tab - Note the Input Output address(i.e., 330, 130, 230, etc.) 2.) Restart in MSDOS mode and install your EZSCSI software from Adaptec by running DOSINST from the EZSCSI diskette. 3.) EZSCSI will automatically install the 16-bit ASPI manager in your Config.sys file. If you are using the AHA-1535 card provided, you should see the following line in the Config.sys file: DEVICE=C:\SCSI\ASPI4DOS.SYS /D Edit your config.sys file and add the "/P" switch to the end of this line and include the Input/Output address you noted in step 1, i.e., "/P130". Now the device line looks like this: DEVICE=C:\SCSI\ASPI4DOS.SYS /D /P130 This may have already been done for you by the Adaptec EZSCSI installation. 4.) Restart system in MSDOS Mode 5.) Go to the directory with the firmware you just downloaded 6.) Run the program called "CDOWN384" You will see the firmware get loaded into your computers memory. 7.) When prompted "Waiting for user" hit the F2 key 8.) Answer "Y" to the question and hit the ENTER key 9.) When you are prompted again with "Waiting for user", hit the ESC key twice to exit. You firmware download is complete now. 10.) Erase the firmware files as they can only cause trouble at this point. (CDOWN384.EXE RCD1000.235, RCD235.EXE, README.TXT) 12.) Edit your config.sys file and delete the line that contains the ASPI manager(DEVICE=C:\SCSI\ASPI4DOS.SYS /D /P130) - Reboot your computer WINDOWS 3.xx USERS: ------------------- 1.) From the Dos prompt, install your EZSCSI software from Adaptec. Execute DOSINST from the EZSCSI V4.x diskette included in your RCD-5040 kit. 2.) EZSCSI will automatically install the 16-bit ASPI manager in your Config.sys file. If you are using the AHA-1535 card provided, you should see something similar to the following line in the Config.sys file: DEVICE=C:\SCSI\ASPI4DOS.SYS /D 3.) After the software is installed the system will be Rebooted 4.) Change to the directory where the firmware you just downloaded is located. Run the RCD235.EXE self-extracting file to extract all firmware files. 5.) Run the program called "CDOWN384" You will see the firmware get loaded into your computers memory. 6.) When prompted "Waiting for user" hit the F2 key 7.) Answer "Y" to the question and hit the ENTER key 8.) When you are prompted again with "Waiting for user", hit the ESC key twice to exit. Your firmware download is complete now. 9.) After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
