SiS 7007 1394 GUID Programming/Testing Readme File (Ver 1.07)

(The document is for sis 962/963 only)

How to run the test:
	1. copy autoexec.bat to c:\.
	2. copy files to C:\(working directory)
	3. edit autoexec.bat to set WDIR=(working directory)
	4. Copy C:\(working directory)\1394test\test?.bat to \(working directory)\1394test\test.bat   (? for test item 1, 2,3)
	5. Run \autoexec.bat (or restart the computer). 
 	Note: if you want to test GUID function only, edit autoexec.bat 
	      to remark out "call test.bat" or other items.

	Output Files:	For test with GUID 
	1. GUIDFAIL.TXT 	created if GUID test error occurs. 
	2. GUID.LOG 		created to log events in test.
	3. error.log		any error will furthur be recorded in .

How to program GUID ROM:
	1. Modify EEPROM data file(ee1394.dat) manually
	       (1) Modify current address on  line 5, 6, 7, 8 
	       (2) Modify end address on line 33
     

	2. Program MAC address:
	    ee1394.exe -- Program MAC address 
	    Usage   : ee1394 <eeprom_file>
	    Ex:    c:\>ee1394 ee1394.dat

	3. Other Usage:
	      Usage   : ee1394 <eeprom_file> [/Options] 
	      Options : /f --> fixed MAC address, not increase current GUID in .dat file
	                /l --> output log file.
	                /r --> restart system after programming GUID

	Output Files:	
		ee1394.log  ---  log file created if there is '/l' option .

This tool includes following files :

	EE1394.EXE		programming GUID ROM
	EEBACKUP.EXE		backup EEPROM to "eebackup.dat"
	CHKGUID.EXE		check 1394 OP memeory 0x24-27 with some pattern dat file(eg."tpattern.dat").
	KBRESET.EXE		restart the system
	FAIL.EXE		Show Fail message
	PASS.EXE		Show Pass message

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
