Updating Backpack driver on the 3115 10/6/94 Bob Bainbridge Micro Solutions has released version 2.11 of the backpack driver. Included on the 3115 with ROM 1.02 (ROM DOS 1.0/ROM Drive 1.01) is the 2.10 Driver. The new driver fixes two problems: 1) Fixes intermittent application crashes due to failure to preserve BX register. 2) Fixes anomaly if a Backpack CD-ROM and Backpack Hard Drive device drivers are loaded after BACKPACK.SYS on a Bi-Directional parallel port and system hangs, or returns an "EMM Exception Error" during boot. The new driver has the following attributes: BACKPACK.SYS 12049 8-22-94 2:11pm Steps to replace the driver on the 3115: 1) Obtain the new BACKPACK.SYS driver from the Global Support Bulletin Board. 2) Put the Driver on a floppy diskette. 3) Boot the 3115 with a backpack connected to the parallel port. 4) If the 3115 boots to Windows, then exit Windows. 5) From the DOS prompt C:, copy the driver BACKPACK.SYS from the floppy to the hard drive. 6) Edit the CONFIG.SYS and change the line: D:\BACKPACK.SYS NONSTOP DELAY=4 to: C:\BACKPACK.SYS NONSTOP DELAY=4 7) Reboot the 3115. If Stacker is loaded you might have to reboot the system twice. Note: When a new version of the ROM is released, the ROM Drive will include the 2.11/or later driver.Download Driver Pack
