Windows 95 Installation Instructions

1. Launch Windows 95.
2. Double click on the Display icon in the "Setting->Control Panel" folder on the Start menu. You 
can also click the right mouse button anywhere on the desktop and select the "Properties" 
option from the pop-out menu.
3. Click the "Setting" Tab and click on the "Change Display Type..." button.
4. Under "Adapter Type" click on the "Change" button.
5. Click on the "Have Disk" button.
6. Change to the directory containing the Driver files and click the "OK" button (e.g. A:\).
7. Select the "S3.INF" file and click the "OK" button.
8. Select the appropriate "S3 Inc...." driver from the list and click the "OK" button. VLB for VL 
Bus system and PCI for PCI system.   Note: The "Inc" following S3 means it is a driver 
released from S3 and it is newer than the drivers shipped on the Microsoft Win95 CD or 
diskettes.
9. If a message stating that one or more driver files is older than the files on the system respond 
"NO" to overwrite the files. 
10. Click on the "Close" button.
11. Select the appropriate resolution using the "Desktop Area" and "Color Palette" options.
12. Click the Apply button.  
13. At the "System Settings Change" dialog Click "Yes" to restart computer.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
