BIOS Upgrade Instructions
-------------------------
Creating a Bootable Floppy (You must use a DOS system to create the
bootable floppy)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Place an unformatted floppy diskette in the floppy drive and format
the floppy using the /S option. example: "format a: /s"
2. Alternatively, place a formatted floppy in the floppy drive and use
the "sys" command. example: "sys a:"
If you are in a non-DOS environment you can make a bootable diskette
using the files included in the MK_BOOTZ.EXE utility.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Execute the file MK_BOOTZ.EXE and follow the directions in the
README.TXT file.
Upgrading to the Latest BIOS
-----------------------------------
1. Be sure you have downloaded the correct BIOS file from the BBS or website.
If you have an AMI BIOS be sure that the last three characters of the
BIOS revision number are the same. If you have a PhoenixBIOS ensure that
the first eleven characters are the same. Otherwise the iFLASH or FMUP
utility will not allow you to upgrade the BIOS.
2. Note the settings of the SETUP parameters. If you have an AMI BIOS
you enter SETUP by hitting the F1 key during boot up. If you have
a PhoenixBIOS you enter SETUP by hitting the F2 key during boot up.
Write down the settings for each of parameters. At the end of the
BIOS update process you should set the parameters to default values.
With the AMI BIOS this can be done by hitting the F5 key. If you have
the PhoenixBIOS go to the EXIT submenu and choose the 'Load Setup Defaults'
option. Then re-enter these values you have written down.
3. Follow the instructions (above) for creating a bootable floppy to
create a bootable floppy diskette.
4. Insert the bootable floppy into drive a:.
5. Copy the downloaded file to a temporary file directory , then from
within this directory, type the file name of the downloaded BIOS and
hit enter. This will cause the file to self extract. Example
"10014ax1.exe ENTER". Or if in a Windows environment, simply double
click on the file while in File Manager. Follow the prompts.
6. The directory will now contain a 'license.txt' and a 'bios.exe', extract
the contents of the 'bios.exe' file to the bootable floppy you created
above. To do this type bios a: at the DOS prompt.
7. Place the bootable floppy containing the BIOS into drive a: of the
system that you want to upgrade and boot the system while the floppy
diskette is in the drive.
8. Press ENTER to go to the Main Menu.
9. Highlight the option that reads "Update Flash Memory From a File" and
press ENTER.
10. Highlight the option that reads "Update System BIOS" and press
ENTER.
11. At the screen that asks you to enter the path and name of the file,
press TAB to highlight the file name and press ENTER.
12. The system will give you a warning that BIOS is about to be changed.
If you wish to continue simply hit ENTER.
13. Once the BIOS has been successfully loaded, remove the floppy
diskette from the drive. Hit ENTER at the prompt to reboot the
system.
14. Check to make sure the BIOS version is the new version as the system
reboots.
15. Enter Setup by pressing the F1 or F2 key depending on your BIOS
manufacturer during boot up. Once in Setup, set the parameters back
to default values. With the AMI BIOS this can be done by hitting the
F5 key. If you have the PhoenixBIOS go to the EXIT submenu and choose
the 'Load Setup Defaults' option. Re-enter the values you wrote down
at the beginning of this process. If you do not set the CMOS values
back to defaults the system may function erratically.
Note: you may encounter a CMOS Checksum error or other problem after
reboot. Try shutting down the system and booting up again. CMOS
checksum errors require that you enter Setup, check your settings, save
your settings, and exit Setup.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
