Analog Devices Inc. SoundMAX(R) 3.0 Audio SoundMAX 3.0 is designed for and tested with Windows(R) 98SE, Windows 2000 (with SP2), Windows Millennium, and Windows XP Professional. INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS: Installation or Update of Analog Devices SoundMAX 3.0 Audio NOTE: Remove any previously installed driver using the instructions in the next section. 1. From the task bar, click on Start -> Run. 2. In the Run dialog box, type X:\path\setup, where X:\path is the full path to the root of the installation media. 3. When upgrading or reinstalling, a dialog will appear. Select Reinstall and press Next. 4. Click on the OK button or press the ENTER key. 5. Click on the Next and OK prompts as they appear. "Hardware Installation" dialog box may appear in the case of unsigned driver releases when the valid driver security catalog file is not included into install set. The dialog box is warning that SoundMAX software has not passed Windows Logo testing. Press "Continue Anyway" to install unsigned driver. 6. Reboot the system to complete the installation. Removal of Analog Devices SoundMAX Audio Driver 1. From the task bar, click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel, or for Windows XP click on Start -> My Computer -> System Tasks. 2. Double-click on the Add/Remove programs icon. 3. Double-click on SoundMAX Install. 4. If the installation media is present, a dialog will appear. Select Remove and press Next. 5. Reboot the system to fully uninstall the drivers. HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE DEPENDENCIES: This software has been designed for and tested with Windows(R) 98SE, Windows 2000, Windows ME, and Windows XP. (See list of operating system upgrades below.) This software is not intended for use with Windows 98 Gold. 1. The system must contain either an ICH chipset or a VIA Super South Bridge chipset. 2. One of the following operating systems must be installed on the system: Windows 98SE with QFE 269601* Windows ME 4.90.3000 Windows 2000 With Service Pack 2 (SP2)* Windows XP (Home or Professional) with Q306582* * Please be advised that if you use an earlier Service Pack or QFE (or no Service Pack or QFE), you may experience problems. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
