Overview

This is the basic Gateway OEM Windows XP driver for the Creative Labs Audio PCI 64D and 128D Digital Sound Card (1373 chipset).



Identification

1.  Click Start, and then click Control Panel.  In Control Panel, double-click the Performance and Maintenance icon.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, double-click the System icon. 

2.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. In Device Manager, double-click Sound Video and Game controllers.

3.  There should be an entry for a Creative AudioPCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM) or Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM).



Windows XP Installation 

1.  Click Start, and then click Control Panel.  In Control Panel, double-click the Performance and Maintenance icon.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, double-click the System icon. 

2.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound Video and Game controllers.

3.  Double-click Creative AudioPCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM) or Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM). 

4.  In the Creative AudioPCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM) or Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM) Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

5.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced).  Click Next.

6.  Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.  Click Next.

7.  Click Have Disk.

8.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, in the Copy manufacturer's files from text box, type: C:\Drivers\7511662\xp.  Click OK.

9.  Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM) is displayed in the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box.  Click Next.

10.  When the driver is finished loading, click Finish.

11.  In the the Creative AudioPCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM) or Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM) Properties dialog box, click Close.  Click Yes to restart the computer.


Removal

1.  Click Start, and then click Control Panel.  In Control Panel, double-click the Performance and Maintenance icon.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, double-click the System icon. 

2.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound Video and Game controllers.

3.  Double-click Creative AudioPCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM) or Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM). 

4.  In the Creative AudioPCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM) or Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM) Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall Driver.

5.  In the Warning dialog box, click OK.

6.  When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.  If you are prompted to restart the computer again, click Yes.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during driver installation or after, perform these troubleshooting steps. 

1.  Verify that all cables are securely connected.  

2.  Verify that the sound card is fully seated in the PCI expansion slot.

3.  Reinstall the driver following the preceding procedure.


Reason for Update

This is the latest Gateway supported basic driver for the Creative Labs Audio PCI 64D and 128D Digital Sound Card (1373 chipset).

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
