NOTES ON INSTALLATION OF THE PCI SERIAL CARD IN DOS/WIN 3.X


WINDOWS 3.X

1) With the power off on your computer, insert the SERIAL PCI card into an empty PCI slot.
2) Power up the computer and boot into DOS mode.
3) Run the Lavaconf.exe utility found on the Dos or Win31 directory on the diskette provided.
4) Record the IO addresses and IRQ that it reports.
5) Boot into Win3.X and enter Control Panel and then Ports.
6) Modify the IO addresses and IRQ for the COM3 and/or COM4 port to match what you have recorded in step 4.
7) Restart Win3.X.

DOS INSTALLATION

Use the addresses and IRQ reported in by this utility to configure the ports in your DOS application.  Refer to the DOS applications manual or Readme.txt for details on how to configure the port in this application.


KNOWN ISSUES

Win3.X only has the ability to install up to 4 COM ports.
If your DOS application does not have custom COM Port settings then you must obtain 
an updated version of this software that has that capability.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
