		     Remote Boot (RPL) for Novell NetWare
		  ==========================================

Introduction
============
    This document describes the procedure to use the Remote Boot-ROM (RPL)
    with AEF-360TX Family PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter on Novell NW network.


Installation Procedure
======================
    1. Make a bootable diskette, place that diskette into floppy driver A.

       > FORMAT A: /S <Enter>

    2. Copy the required files to that diskette, for example, "HIMEM.SYS",
       "EMM386.EXE","SETVER.EXE" ....

    3. Copy "LSL.COM", "RTSODI.COM", "IPXODI.COM", "VLM.EXE" and all VLM
       files (or "NETX.EXE") to that diskette.

    4. Create "AUTOEXEC.BAT", "CONFIG.SYS" and "NET.CFG" files.

    5. Login NetWare as supervisor.

    6. Execute following commands:

       > MAP G:=SYS:SYSTEM <Enter>
       > MAP F:=SYS:LOGIN <Enter>

    7. Change to the F drive, then Execute following command:

       > G:DOSGEN <Enter>

    8. Copy "AUTOEXEC.BAT" file from the boot diskette the LOGIN directory.

    9. At NetWare Server console, execute following commands:
       (Supposing server use AEF-360TX Family PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter)

       : load RTSSRV frame=Ethernet_802.2
       : bind IPX to RTSSRV
       : load RPL
       : bind RPL to RTSSRV   (Choosing Ethernet_802.2 frame type)

   10. Last, restart workstation using remote BootROM function to connect
       NetWare Server.

Install Bootconf.sys
====================
    1. Rename the Net$dos.sys as the you want XXXX.sys

    2. Create Bootconf.sys in sys:\login directory if you have multiple boot
       images. The Bootconf.sys file format is as below:
       Node ID Number = Boot images files

       Example: Single Boot Images
       0x0000f8000001 = ne2000.sys
       0x0000f8000002 = RTS.sys

       Example: Multiple Boot Images
       0x0000f8000001 = ne2000.sys RTS.sys
       0x*,* = ne2000.sys RTS.sys   (All the node)

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
