Readme file for JT226 PC TopDrive / PC229 PC TopDrive 3

System Requirements:
Sound Blaster or 100% compatible game port.
Windows 95 / Windows 98 


Connection
----------
To connect your JT226 PC TopDrive / PC229 PC TopDrive 3:
1. Turn off your PC and peripherals before connecting or disconnecting the
   steering wheel.
2. Locate the 15 pin game port of your computer. Typically, it is located
   on your sound card.
3. Plug the joystick's connector into the game port and make sure it's
   securely plugged.


Windows Hardware setup
----------------------
Before install the driver, please verify that you have set up the game
port correctly:

Go to "Control Panel", look for the "Game Controllers" icon.

If you find the joystick icon:
- That means you already set up your game port. 

If you can't find the icon:
- Go to the "Control Panel" -> "Add New Hardware".
- Select "Sound, video and game controllers" and click "Next". 
- From the "Manufacturers" menu, select "Microsoft".
- From the "Models" menu, select "Game port joystick" and click "Next".
- Click "Next" again and then followed by clicking "Finish".
- Restart your computer to finish the hardware setup.
- To Verify that the "Game Controllers" icon should now appear on the
  "Control Panel".


Install the driver
------------------
1. Start Windows 95/98.
2. Insert the driver diskette into drive A: or B:. 
3. Choose "RUN" from "START" menu.
4. Type A:\setup or B:\setup and press ENTER. 
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.


Select JT226 PC TopDrive / PC229 PC TopDrive 3 
----------------------------------------------
1. Go to the "Control Panel" -> "Game Controllers". 
2. Click "General" tab.
3. Check that there exists "JT226 PC TopDrive \ PC229 PC TopDrive 3". If you can't find it,
   choose "Add" to add it from the joystick table.
4. Confirm that the status of "JT226 PC TopDrive \ PC229 PC TopDrive 3" is "OK". 
5. Click "OK" button to finish.


Calibrate your steering wheel before playing games 
--------------------------------------------------
The steering wheel must be calibrated before playing games.
1. Click "Properties" -> "Calibrate".
2. Follow the instructions for calibration. 
3. Go to "Test" tab to test the steering wheel.
4. After finish testing, click "Apply".


Uninstall the Driver
--------------------
To uninstall the Driver:
1. Go to "Control Panel" -> "Add/Remove Programs"
2. Select "PC TopDrive / PC TopDrive 3 Driver", then click "Add/Remove". Follow
   the on screen instruction to remove the drivers.


Troubleshooting
---------------
If you find any difficulty in using the steering wheel Driver, please check 
the followings, or consult your nearest dealer or service facility.
1. The cables are not firmly connected.
2. You have not configure the game correctly. Please check the game's manual
   for steering wheel setup procedure.
3. You have not configure the Windows environment correctly. Check the
   Windows' manual for the procedure to install the joystick/joypad.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
