********************************************************************** PA740 Graphics Accelerator Driver Installation Procedure ********************************************************************** ---------------------------- General Installation Notes ---------------------------- **When loading the PA740 drivers and OSR2.1 or OSR 2.5for the first time, the software should be loaded in the following order: (1) Load OSR2.0 or OSR 2.5 (2) Load The "USB Supplement" (brings it up to OSR2.1 level or OSR2.5) (3) Load The PA740 drivers. Note: If this is not done in this order, then the standard Microsoft VGA drivers will be automatically loaded. ** The operating system and DirectX* must be installed on the system prior to installation for Win9x. ------------------------------------------------------ Installing Win9x Drivers from floppy disk or hard disk ------------------------------------------------------ (1) After Windows has loaded, click on "My Computer" icon, "Control Panel" icon, and then the "Display" icon. (2) You should now be in the "Display Properties" window. Select the "Settings" tab, and click on the "Advanced Properties" button. (3) In the "Advanced Display Properties" window, select the "Adapter" tab, and click the "Change..." button. For Windows 95 installation, continue to Step 4. In Windows 98, the following window appears: (A) The "Update Device Driver Wizard" window appears. If you are installing the PA740 graphics accelerator card and drivers for the first time, this window may denote PA740 graphics accelerator as a "Standard PCI VGA Graphics Adapter." Click on the "Next" button to continue. (B) A new window appears, prompting for weather to have Windows search for a device driver or to manually select one. Click the option for "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want." After this, click on the "Next" button, and continue to Step 4. Continue with both Windows 95 and Windows 98 installation from this point. (4) From the new window, click on the "Have Disk" button. (5) You should now be in the "Install From Disk" window. In the "Copy manufactures files from:" box, enter the location of the PA740 graphics accelerator drivers and press the "OK" button. (6) A window should pop up stating that the " PA740 Win9x Rx.xx" drivers are about to be installed. Click the "OK" button to accept the display driver change, and then click the "Close" button in the "Advanced Display Properties" window as well as the "Display Properties" window to complete the installation. Restart the computer when prompted to do so. **** Un-installing the Drivers and Graphics Configuration Manager. (1) From the Windows 9x desktop, click on "My Computer" and then "Add/Remove Programs". (2) Click on "PA740 Graphics Accelerator" and then Add/Remove". (3) Follow the instructions by clicking on "yes" as indicated. (4) The drivers and Graphics Properties page should now be un- installed. After this, another revision of the drivers may be loaded by following the above installation instructions. ------------------------ Installing NT4.0 Drivers ------------------------ (1) Before installing the PA740 graphics accelerator drivers, first make sure that the Windows NT default VGA graphics adapter drivers are currently installed. To do this, click on "My Computer" and then "Control Panel". In the "Control Panel" window, click on "Display". In the "Display Properties" window, click on the "Settings tab. Click the "Display Type" button and if the VGA graphics adapter is the current graphics adapter, go to step 2 below, otherwise click "Change". In the "Change Display" window, highlight the "Standard Display Types" under the Manufacturers column and then highlight the "VGA Compatible Display Adapter" under the Display column. Click "OK". After the drivers have been successfully installed, click "OK" in the "Installing Driver" Window. Click the close button in the "Display Type" window and then again click "Close" in the "Display Properties" window. Restart the computer when the prompted to do so. After rebooting, the "Invalid Display Settings" window will appear. Press "OK" and change the resolution settings, if desired. If you choose to change the resolution and/or color depth settings, follow the instructions on the screen. (2) After Windows NT 4.0 has loaded, click on "My Computer" icon, "Control Panel" icon, and then the "Display" icon. (3) You should now be in the "Display Properties" window. Select the "Settings" tab, and click on the "Display Type" button. (4)"Display Type" window, click the "Change..." button. (5) From the new window, click on the "Have Disk" button. (6) You should now be in the "Install From Disk" window. In the "Copy manufactures files from:" box, place the CD-ROM in the proper drive and click the "Browse..." button. The drivers are located in the "\WinNT" directory of the CD-ROM. When the correct directory is chosen, click "OK" to continue the installation. (7) A window should pop up stating that the " PA740 Video Accelerator" drivers are about to be installed. Click the "OK" button to accept the display driver change, and then click the "Yes" button in the "Third Party Drivers" window as well as the "OK" button in the "Installing Driver" window. Click "Close" on the "Display Properties" window to complete the installation. Restart the computer when prompted to do so. After rebooting, the "Invalid Display Settings" window will appear. Press "OK" and change the resolution settings, if desired. If you choose to change the resolution and/or color depth settings, follow the instructions on the screen.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
