           ALi Bus Master IDE Driver Setup Utility
=============================================================

1. Intruduction 
----------------
  This setup utility install ALi bus master IDE driver for
  Win95/98/NT. ALi bus master IDE driver supports DMA/Ultra33
  features. After ver 3.40, IDE driver will add support for
  Ultra66 feature on ALi chipsets with Ultra66 features.

2. Install/Uninstall
---------------------
  Run setup.exe to install/uninstall ALi bus master IDE driver.
  The setup utility detects the OS version and installs the 
  suitable driver automatically. 

3. Attention
-------------
  A. When the Win95 install the software for primary and secondary 
     channel for IDE driver, please DO NOT RESTART COMPUTER after 
     Win95 just finish primary channel. Let Win95 continue to install 
     software for secondary channel. After secondary channel is 
     finished, the RESTART COMPUTER to let new installed IDE driver 
     to take effect.

  B. DOS CD-ROM and IDE drivers will conflict with ALi bus master 
     driver in Win95/98. Please remove "mscdex" command line from 
     autoexec.bat and remove the specification "device=Your DOS 
     CD-ROM and/or IDE driver" from config.sys. 

  C. If some errors occur after ALi bus master driver is installed,
     the user can disable DMA feature of CDROM/Disk. If the error 
     condition still exists, run setup.exe to remove ALi bus master 
     driver. 

     Procedure to disable DMA :
     - Open "System" icon from control panel.
     - Select "Device Manager" tab.
     - Open "CDROM" or "Disk Drive" and choose the device.
     - Double click the device and select "setting" tab.
     - Uncheck DMA check box.
     - Restart

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
