INSTALLING WINDOWS VIDEO DRIVERS
================================


REQUIREMENTS

     * HP OmniBook 5700 installed with Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups

     * HP OmniBook 5700 Video driver.  The driver is located on the OmniBook
       hard disk in C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WFW\VIDEO.  These files are available
       after finishing the selection of Windows 95 or Windows for Workgroups
       during the pre-install process.  This driver is also located on the 
       HP OmniBook Recovery CD in the \DRIVERS\WFW\VIDEO directory.


PROCEDURE

1. Start Windows

2. Go to the File menu and choose Run

3. Enter C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WFW\VIDEO\SETUP

4. A blue screen will be displayed showing the Display Driver Setup Program
   Version 2.10 and the CHIPS 6555X Display Driver "Preliminary Version 1.1.8.

5. Press [Enter]

6. Displayed will be a single selection "Windows Version 3.1 (6555X 
   accelerated drivers)".

7. Press [Enter]

8. Displayed will be a single selection "All Resolutions". 

9. Press [Enter]

10. After pressing [Enter], All resolutions will be selected.

11. Press the [End] key to start the install process.

12. The setup program will ask where to install the video drivers.  Choose
    the default C:\WINDOWS directory.

13. Press [Enter]

14. Exit the setup program and exit Windows and reboot. 

15. In Windows from the Main group, double-click the "Windows Setup" icon.
    Click on "Options", "Change System Settings".  Click the down arrow of
    the Display box and; choose the "* CHIPS Multi-Media 6555X 800x600x256"
    for SVGA display panels, or "* CHIPS Multi-Media 6555X 1024x768x256" for
    XGA display panels.

16. Restart Windows

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
