INSTALLING WINDOWS PCCARD DRIVERS
=================================


REQUIREMENTS

     * HP OmniBook 5700 installed with Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups

     * HP OmniBook 5700 PCCard drivers.  The drivers are located on the
       OmniBook hard disk in C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WFW\PCCARD.  These files
       are available after finishing the selection of Windows 95 or Windows
       for Workgroups during the pre-install process.  The drivers are also
       located on the HP OmniBook Recovery CD in the \DRIVERS\WFW\PCCARD
       directory.


PROCEDURE

1. Start Windows

2. Go to the File menu and choose Run

3. Enter C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WFW\PCCARD\SETUP

4. A blue screen will display the SystemSoft PCCard Driver Setup Program.
   Press Continue.

5. Select HP OmniBook 5700 when prompted to select a platform, then click OK.

6. Remove any PCMCIA devices inserted and select OK to continue the
    installation.

7. Accept The default "2 slots" for PC Card Slot Configuration.

8. Press [Enter]

9. Displayed will be the CardWizard Installation Options, accept the default
   "Express Installation".

10. Press [Enter]

11. The default CardWizard Path is C:\CARDWIZ.  

12. Press [Enter]

13. The setup program will must modify CONFIG.SYS, WIN.INI, and SYSTEM.INI.
    Accept the changes by clicking [YES] at each prompt.

14. Press [NO] when asked if CardWizard should be placed in the Startup Group.

15. Once complete, click [RESTART] to exit Windows and reboot.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
