INSTALLING WINDOWS NT 4.0 VIDEO SUPPORT


Requirements
============
     * HP OmniBook 5700 with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 installed.

     * HP OmniBook 5700 video drivers.  The drivers are located on the HP 
       OmniBook 5700 hard drive in the C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\NT\VIDEO.40
       subdirectory.  These files are available after finishing the selection
       of Windows 95 or Windows for Workgroups during the pre-install 
       process.  The drivers are also located on the HP OmniBook 5700 
       Recovery CD in the \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\NT\VIDEO.40 directory.

Procedure
=========
1. Open My Computer, then Control Panel.

2. Open Display and go to the Settings tab.

3. Click Display Type then Change.

4. Click Have Disk... in the Change Display windows.

5. Enter the directory of the Windows NT 4.0 OmniBook 5700 video drivers and 
   click OK. (i.e. if on the hard drive then C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\NT\VIDEO.40)

6. Select the Chips Video Accelerator (64300/10 65535/40/45/48/50/54) and
   click OK.

7. Click Yes to confirm.

8. Click OK to accept the driver was installed correctly.

9. Click Close in the Display Type window.  (The new driver will not take
   effect until after Windows NT has restarted.)

10. Click Close in the Display Properties windows.

11. Click Yes to restart the computer.

12. When Windows NT restarts it will inform you that a new graphics driver
    has been installed.  Click OK.

13. Select the desired Color Palette and Desktop area and click Test then OK. 
    The following is a list of the maximum resolutions on the different 
    OmniBook 5700 models.

         OmniBook 5700CT      800x600       65,535 Colors
         OmniBook 5700CTX     1024x768      65,535 Colors

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
