   Workstation for Novell OS/2 ODI Client

   Introduction:
   -------------
   This document describes the procedure to setup the NetWare v3.X , v4.X
   OS2 workstation driver for AcerLAN ALN-201 PCI Ethernet adapter.

   Location of Driver:     \OS2\ALN201.SYS

   Simple setup Procedures for NetWare Client :
   -----------------------------------------------
      Before you start with the installation procedure, make sure that the
      adapter is properly  installed and configured.  Similarly, Make sure
      that your NetWare  Requester  for OS/2 is properly installed.

      Please refer to "Novell NetWare Requester for OS/2" documentation for
      a detailed  Requester and Utilities installation guide.

      1. Copy the  ALN201.SYS  file into the NETWARE subdirectory of your
         hard disk from the AcerLAN Driver Diskette A:\OS2.

      2. Add or replace the ALN201.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS file.

      3. Reboot your system to get service of network.


   Setup Procedures for NetWare Requester for OS/2:
   --------------------------------------------------
      The installation utility INSTALL.EXE is located on Novell's
      "Novell Netware Requester for OS/2" disk 1. Run INSTALL
      from the OS/2 Session.

      The NetWare Requester Install program screen will appear.

      1. Click the <Installation>.

      2. Click the <Requester On Workstation>.

      3. Put the AcerLAN Driver Diskette to drive A. Change
         the Source drive to A, and click <OK>.

      4. Select the "Edit CONFIG.SYS and Copy All Files...",
         and click <OK>.

      5. In the "Choose from the list or type in the driver name"
         screen, click the right dump bar.

      6. The system prompt an installation message screen,
         just click <OK>.

      7. Select "ALN201.SYS", and follow a series of procedure
         to complete the installation.

      8. Shutdown and restart the system to work on.


   How to create the "NetWare Requester for OS/2" diskettes:
   ----------------------------------------------------------
      The "Netware Requester for OS/2" diskettes, may be
      generated from Netware server 4.1 as followings:

      1. At the NetWare prompt (indicated by the Server name),
         run the INSTALL.NLM program by typing:

            server name: LOAD INSTALL <Enter>

      2. Select "Product Options" and press <Enter>.

      3. Select "Choose an item or product list above"
         and press <Enter>.

      4. Select "Create DOS/MS Windows/OS2 Client Install Diskette"
         and press <Enter>.

      5. Specify Network files directory or only press <Enter>.
         If your server is installed from CD-ROM, make sure the CD
         is on the CD-ROM.

      6. Mark the "OS/2 Client Install", and press <F10>.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
