<AGM/IBM>
The alternate graphics mode (AGM) will allow you to select
Epson graphics while in the IBM mode. If what you printed is
not exactly what is on the screen, but there is a symbol that
is replacing the symbol you expect, change the character set.


<AUTO CR/IBM>
The automatic carriage return (AUTO CR) will allow your printhead
to return to the left after each line feed. The default for AUTO CR
is OFF. Turn it ON only if your printhead does not return to the
left. It is only necessary to change this setting when your
application software does not support this function.


<AUTO LF>
This feature advances the paper one line after a carriage return.
The default for AUTO LF is OFF. Turn it ON if your paper does not
advance after one carriage return. It is only necessary to change
this setting when your application software does not support
this function.


<AUTO LOADING>
This feature automatically loads your paper in the friction mode.
The default for AUTO LOAD is ON. Turn it OFF only if not needed.


<BOTTOM MARGIN>
The bottom margin is the area between the bottom edge of the paper
and the last print line position. The default for BOTTOM MARGIN is
0. It is only necessary to change this setting when your application
software does not support this function.


<BOLD>
This is an enhancement done with one pass of the printhead at half
speed, which allows horizontally adjacent dots to be printed. The
default for BOLD is OFF. It is only necessary to change this setting
when your application software does not support this function.


<BUZZER>
This feature will sound when the software BEL (buzzer) command is
issued. The default for BUZZER is ON. Turn it OFF only if not needed.
The printer's buzzer is not related to this command.


<CHARACTER SET>
Character set is the set of characters, numbers, and symbols 
available for printing. The printer's character set default is 
USA/ITALICS (italics character set is only available in EPSON).


<CODE PAGE>
This is a table used by computers in the DOS environment that assigns
a character to a numeric value, which provides compatibility to all
peripherals.If you should change the code page in your printer also
change it in your software. The CODE PAGE default is USA and should
only be changed to support foreign language character sets.


<COLOR>
This feature is available only with the optional color kit installed.
Each of the three colors can be mixed (7 colors max.) through your
setup disk or front panel. In order to produce 256 colors, it is
recommended to use commercial software that supports the Panasonic
model or use the Epson LQ-2550 printer driver.


<COUNTRY>
See CHARACTER SET or CODE PAGE.


<CSF MODE>
This mode is for activating the optional cut sheet feeder. The default
for CSF is OFF. Turn it ON before installing the cut sheet feeder,
and remember to turn it OFF when using fanfold paper.


<CTR PRINTHEAD>
This feature is primarily used to center the printhead in the middle
of a document. The purpose of this feature is for proper paper
advancement.The default for CTR PRINTHEAD is 40, and may be changed
according to paper width.


<DOUBLE HIGH>
This text enhancement will make your character twice that of a normal
one. The default for DOUBLE HIGH is OFF. If turned ON, all text sent
from the computer will print double high. It is only necessary to
change this setting when your application software does not support
this function.


<DOUBLE STRIKE>
This text enhancement uses a double strike with the second pass
slightly below the first to create a bold appearance. The default
for DOUBLE STRIKE is OFF. If turned ON, all text sent from the
computer will print double strike. It is only necessary to change
this setting when your application software does not support this
functiion.


<DOUBLE WIDE>
This text enhancement will make the width of your character twice
that of a normal one. The default for DOUBLE WIDE is OFF. If turned
ON, all text sent the computer will print double wide. It is only
necessary to change this setting when your application software
does not support this function.


<DISPLAY LANGUAGE>
This feature will allow the printer's screen messages to be displayed
in one of the six languages.


<DOWNLOAD>
This feature is used for storing a custom designed font and requires
some knowledge in programming.


<EMULATION>
This feature allows you to choose between EPSON and IBM command sets.
The default for EMULATION is EPSON. The only time you will need to
change the printer's emulation is when you have selected an IBM
printer driver through your software package.


<FONT>
This feature allows you to select different typefaces (fonts).
The default for FONT is DRAFT. It is only necessary to change
this setting when your application software does not support this
function.


<G.DIRECTION>
This feature allows you to print graphics uni-directionally (for
precise vertical registration) or bi-directionally (for faster
throughput and less precision). The default for G.DIRECTION is UNI.


<INSTALL>
This main menu consists of the COLOR and CSF (cut sheet feeder), with
other features that are seldom used or ones that your application
software handles. The defaults for these features is OFF. If you are
installing CSF, select ON. The optional color kit installation is
automatically sensed by the printer.


<INTERFACE>
This feature allows you to select parallel or serial communication.
The default for INTERFACE is PARALLEL. In order to communicate in
serial you must install the optional interface.


<ITALIC>
This CHARACTER SET sub-menu default is set to ITALIC
in Epson emulation.


<ITALICS>
This feature refers to characters printed at an angle. The text
enhancement default for ITALICS is ON. It is only necessary to
change this setting when your application software does not
support this function.


<LEFT MARGIN>
The left margin is the area between the zero print position and the
first print position. The default for LEFT MARGIN is 0. It is only
necessary to change this setting when your application software
does not support this function.


<LINE/INCH>
This feature allows you to change the space between the lines of
print. The default for LINE/INCH is 6. It is only necessary to
change this setting when your application software does not support
this function.


<OUTLINE>
This feature prints an outline or contour of the character.
The default for OUTLINE is OFF. If turned ON, all text sent from
the computer will print in outline. It is only necessary to change
this setting when your application software does not support this
function.


<PAGE LENGTH>
The page length feature allows you to define your page from .1 to 14.9
inches. The default for PAGE LENGTH is 11". It is only necessary to
change this setting when your application software does not support
this function.


<P.O.DETECTOR>
The paper out detect feature alerts you with an audible signal and
flashing indicator when the printer is out of paper and then stops
printing. The default for P.O.DETECTOR is ON. If OFF, the audible
signal will not sound and printing will continue.


<PAGE FORMAT>
The page format area allows you to make changes to the page length,
top margin, bottom margin, left margin, right margin, and
center printhead position. It is only necessary to change these
settings when your application software does not support these
functions (except center printhead).


<PANEL LOCK>
The PANEL LOCK feature is OFF when shipped, which allows the software
commands to override the printer's settings.


<PARALLEL>
This feature is identified by a 36-pin connector located in the rear.
It allows you to receive data from the computer.


<PITCH>
This feature allows you to change the amount of characters to be
printed within an inch (CPI). The default for PITCH is 10.
It is only necessary to change this setting when your application
software does not support this function.


<POINT SIZE>
This feature is a measure of character height.
A point=1/72 of an inch. It is only necessary to change this setting
when your application software does not support this function.


<POWER ON MACRO>
This feature loads any one of your four saved macros automatically
when power is turned on.


<PRINT MODE>
The PRINT MODE main menu allows you to make changes to the graphic
direction, text direction, print width, and panel lock.


<PRINT STYLE>
The PRINT STYLE main menu allows you to make changes to font, pitch,
and point size. It is only necessary to change these settings when
your application software does not support this function.


<PRINT WIDTH>
This feature allows you to change the print width to either 8" or 9".
The default PRINT WIDTH is 8". If you need to print wider than 8",
Select 9".


<QUIET MODE>
This feature reduces printing noise.


<RIGHT MARGIN>
The right margin is the area between the right edge of the paper and
the last print position. The default for RIGHT MARGIN is 80. It is
only necessary to change this setting when your application software
does not support this function.


<REV LF/PULL>
This feature allows you to control reverse paper feeding in the pull
tractor mode. The default for REV LF/PULL is OFF.


<SERIAL>
This feature becomes activated with the optional serial interface
board installed. Make sure your computer and printer's serial
interface protocol (parameters) match.


<SHADOW>
This feature adds depth to the character's appearance by creating
a shadow effect to the side of the normal character. The default for
SHADOW is OFF. If turned ON, all text sent from the computer will
print in shadow. It is only necessary to change this setting when
your application software does not support this function.


<T.DIRECTION>
The text direction feature allows you to print text uni-directionally
(for precise vertical registration), or bi-directionally (for slightly
faster throughput and less precision). The default for T.DIRECTION
is BI, adjust accordingly.


<TOP MARGIN>
The top margin is the area between the top edge of the paper and the
first print line position. The default for TOP MARGIN is 0. It is
only necessary to change this setting when your application software
does not support this function.


<TEAR OFF>
This feature advances the fanfold paper's perforation to the tear off
position automatically. The default for TEAR OFF is OFF. If you want
to advance the perforation automatically, select ON.


<TEXT ENHANCEMENT>
The TEXT ENHANCEMENT main menu allows you to change sub-menu features
including bold, double high, double strike, double wide, italics,
outline, shadow, and zero font. It is only necessary to change these
settings when your application software does not support these
functions.


<ZERO FONT>
The numeric zero and letter zero are very similar. This function 
allows you to easily distinguish between them by printing zero 
with a point or slash instead of a normal zero.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
