HP OMNIBOOK 2000/5700 NOTEBOOK PC - MS WINDOWS 95, INSTALLING VIDEO DRIVERS INTRODUCTION The HP OmniBook 2000/5700 Notebook PC includes Microsoft (R) Windows 95 as one choice for the preloaded and preconfigured operating system. If you install a retail Windows 95, follow these instructions to upgrade to the latest HP OmniBook PC video drivers. NOTE: Microsoft Windows 95 comes with built in video support for the Chips & Technologies video controller used in the HP OmniBook 2000/5700 Notebook PC. However, the Microsoft driver is not very clear at high resolutions with external displays. Use this information to install the updated video driver. REQUIREMENTS * HP OmniBook 2000/5700 Notebook PC with Microsoft Windows 95 installed. * HP OmniBook 2000/5700 Notebook PC video drivers. You can obtain the drivers from the hard disk in the C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\VIDEO directory or from the HP OmniBook 2000 Notebook PC Recovery CD in the \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\VIDEO directory. PROCEDURE 1. Open Control Panel and double-click Display (or right-click the desktop and choose Properties). 2. On the Settings tab, click Change Display Type (or Advanced Properties). 3. Under Adapter Type, click Change. 4. Click Have Disk. 5. Type the path for the video driver files (such as A:\ for a "Video Drivers" floppy disk, or C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\VIDEO for the hard disk), then click OK. 6. Select CHIPS95.INF and click OK. 7. Click OK to install "Chips & Tech. 65554 PCI." 8. Click Close. 9. Click Close to exit Display Properties. 10. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
