HP OMNIBOOK 2000/5700 NOTEBOOK PC - WINDOWS 3.1 OR WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUPS 3.11, INSTALLING CD-ROM DRIVERS INTRODUCTION The HP OmniBook 2000/5700 Notebook PC includes Microsoft (R) Windows for Workgroups 3.11 as one choice for the preloaded and preconfigured operating system. If installing retail Windows for Workgroups 3.11 or Windows 3.1, follow these instructions to install the OmniBook CD-ROM drivers for the OmniBook CD-ROM drive. REQUIREMENTS * HP OmniBook 2000/5700 Notebook PC with Microsoft Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11 installed. * HP OmniBook 2000/5700 Notebook PC CD-ROM drivers. Obtain the drivers from the hard disk in the C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WFW\CDROM directory or from the HP OmniBook 2000/5700 Notebook PC Recovery CD in the \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WFW\CDROM directory. PROCEDURE 1. Exit Windows. 2. At the MS-DOS command prompt, go to the directory that contains the CD-ROM drivers. For example, on the hard disk type C: CD \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WFW\CDROM 3. Start the installation by typing TOSH Then follow the prompts. Select the default choices, but read them carefully. HP recommends installing all files into C:\CDROM. Allow the install program to change the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. 4. Remove the Support Utility disk, then press CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot the HP OmniBook Notebook PC. The internal CD-ROM is then ready for use. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
