INSTALLING OS/2 VIDEO SUPPORT Requirements ============ * HP OmniBook 2000/5700 with OS/2 Warp 4.0. * HP OmniBook drivers for Video. This driver is located on the World Wide Web at http://www.chips.com. Note: You must install the Video drivers from floppy disk. To create an OS/2 OmniBook 2000/5700 Video drivers disk do the following: 1. Copy the contents of C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\OS2\VIDEO to the root directory of a blank floppy disk. 2. At an OS/2 or DOS prompt type LABEL A: CTDISP 1. Label the Diskette OS/2 OmniBook 2000/5700 Drivers Disk. Before You Start ================ Before installation of this display driver, the system display should be set to VGA mode. VGA is the default video mode enabled when OS/2 is first installed. If the current system primary display is not VGA, or if a previous version of this driver is being used, the system should first be returned to VGA mode. To restore VGA mode, use Selective Install and select VGA for Primary Display. For more information on this procedure, see the section on Changing Display Adapter Support in the OS/2 Users Guide. Procedure ========= 1. Open an OS/2 full screen or windowed session. 2. Place the HP OmniBook OS/2 Drivers Diskette in drive A. 3. Type A: <ENTER> to make this the default drive. 4. Type SETUP A: C: <ENTER> where A: is the floppy disk drive and C: is the hard disk partition containing \OS2. This program will copy files to your hard disk. 5. If the installation program asks you to overwrite files choose Yes. 6. Once the Setup Program is completed, click OK to shutdown. Click Yes to close SETUP.CMD. When Prompted Remove the diskette and press Ctrl-Alt-Delete. 7. After the system has rebooted, reinsert the Video driver diskette. 8. Open the System Setup icon in the OS/2 System folder and double-click on Display Driver Install to install the new device driver and configure the video system. 9. Select Primary Display from the Display Driver Install Window and Click OK. 10. From the list of Primary Display Adapter Types, select Chips and Technologies 65550/554 and click OK. 11. Click OK to Install Using Defaults for Monitor Type in the Monitor Configuration/Selection Utility window. This will automatically test all video resolutions 12. Click OK to accept A:\ as the source directory. 13. The Installation may ask you if you want to overwrite newer files than you are installing. Click Yes each time. 14. Remove the Diskette and Click OK when prompted. 15. After the install program has completed, the display driver will be initialized for 640x480x256 Color. Shutdown and then reboot the system for the installed changes to take effect. 16. Open the System Setup icon in the OS/2 System folder, then double-click on System. From the list of available screen resolutions, select a new resolution. The HP OmniBook is designed for SVGA or 800x600x65538. If you choose 640x480 the OS/2 Desktop will not fill the display. If you choose 1024x768, you will have to scroll to view the entire OS/2 desktop. 17. Close System. Shutdown and reboot after making this change. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
