INSTALLING NT SOUND SUPPORT


Requirements
============

     * HP OmniBook 2000/5700 with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 installed.

     * HP OmniBook 2000/5700 drivers for sound.  These drivers are located on 
       the HP OmniBook 2000 hard drive in the C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\NT\SOUND
       directory.  These files are available after finishing the selection of
       Windows 95 or Windows for Workgroups during the pre-install process. 
       The drivers are also located on the HP OmniBook 2000/5700 Recovery CD
       in the \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\NT\SOUND directory.

Procedure
=========
1. Open My Computer, then Control Panel.

2. Open Multimedia and go to the Devices tab.

3. Select the Audio Devices option and click Add.

4. Select Unlisted or Updated Driver and click OK.

5. Enter the directory of the Windows NT 4.0 OmniBook 2000 sound drivers 
   and click OK.  

6. Select the CrystalWare Audio Driver and click OK.

7. If prompted that a driver exists choose install the new driver.

8. Click OK to close the Multimedia properties.

9. Shutdown and restart Windows NT to activate the sound driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
