Supra 56i PCI Driver Upgrade Instructions

STEP 1 - UPDATING THE MODEM DRIVERS

This file contains instructions for upgrading the drivers for your SupraMax 56i modem.

SupraMax Upgrade Instructions

1. Download the file from our web page. Disconnect from your ISP.
2. Double-click the file to extract it. Save the extracted files to a temporary directory on your hard drive.
3. Beginning at Start, select Settings, Control Panel.
4. Double-click System. 
5. Click the Device Manager tab.
6. Click the plus sign (+) next to HCFMODEM and select Supra 2XXX PCI Modem Enumerator. 
7. Click the Properties button.
8. Click the Driver tab, and note the date.

---IMPORTANT---
If you see a list of files skip to Section B.
If you don't see a list of files, continue with Section A.

---Section A--- 

9. Click the Update Driver button.
10. Select Yes to let Windows 95/98 look for the drivers.  Click Next.  Point the installation process towards the directory on your hard drive that contains the new drivers.
11. You may be prompted about a file being copies is older than the one currently on your computer.  Say "No," which will overwrite the file with the older version.  you may have to do this twice.
12. The Update Device Driver will close when the update is completed.
13. Exit the Properties and Device Manager windows.  Proceed to Section C.

---Section B--- 

14. Select a file (it doesn't matter which one), and click the Change Driver button.
15. Select SupraMax, and point the installation process toward the directory on the hard drive which contains the drivers.
16. You may be prompted about a file being copied is older than one currently on your computer.  Say "No," which will overwrite the file with the older version.  You may have to do this twice.
17. Make sure your modem is selected, and click OK.
18. Click OK to exit the Properties window. If you don't click OK, your modem will not be upgraded.  Wait for the SupraMax Properties window to close.

---Section C---

19. Back in Device manager, click on the + in front of Modem.  Highlight the SupraMax modem, click on properties, and click on the Driver tab.  Follow the same procedures as above to update the drivers for the modem.

STEP 2 - CHECKING THE UPGRADE 
1. Beginning at Start, select Settings, Control Panel. Double-click modems.
2. Click the Diagnostics tab.
3. Select the COM port associated with your modem, and click the More Info... button. Next to the line starting with ATi3, look for V2.1.2.154m.  This indicates you have successfully upgraded your modem to V.90, and that it is installed correctly in Windows 95/98. Click OK twice to return to the Control Panel.

Congratulations! You have successfully upgraded your SupraMax 56i modem.
