MTFER is a SCSI CD-ROM Update Program for all SCSI TOSHIBA drives. What you need: * Adaptec SCSI Controller, e.g. AHA-1540/1542, AHA-2940, AHA-2920 * Adaptec ASPI-Driver, to be found in the EZ-SCSI Software - e.g. ASPI4DOS.SYS, ASPI8DOS.SYS or MCAM18XX.SYS - due to copyright reasons we could not supply Adaptec's ASPI-Manager * The CD-ROM device driver is NOT needed. Please "REM" it out in the CONFIG:SYS * The download utility MTFER.EXE from Toshiba * Your XM6201B CD-ROM drive to be upgraded The quick method to upgrade: * The ASPI interface must be loaded * At the DOS prompt type: MTFER [FirmWare.HEX] Usage Example: MTFER bm80420.hex [RETURN] Toshiba will not accept responsibility for any damages incurred due to use of this software. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
