Introduction
============
Broadcom Advanced Server Control Suite(BASCS) is an application that contains
a set of utilities supporting diagnostics, monitoring, and Load Balance/VLAN
configurations for B5700 network adapter.

BASCS runs under Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000.

Limitations
===========

The following features are not yet supported in current version
of implementation:

1. On-line Help.
2. Installation software.

Load Balance/VLAN configuration is based on version 1.1.6 of BLF release


Installation
============
Copy fad.sys to %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers directory

Copy all files in this directory to your system32 directory.

( To verify your system32 directory, type " echo %SystemRoot%\system32 " from your command prompt).


If this is not the first time you install BASCS, you only need to copy B57exp.cpl
and BMAPI.DLL into your system32 directory.

From Control Panel (Start->Setting->Control Panel ), you should see an icon with
Broadcom Logo indicates Broadcom Gigabit. Double click the Broadcom icon to 
launch BASCS.

This release is using the cabw32.dll V.0.03
- Fixed data error in cable pair swaps
- Fixed cable length using the Return Loss method.

bascs_v1.06 (11/12/00)
-Add Cable diagnostic components (version 0.02). This release of cable diagnostic works with short cable and data collected for pair swapping and frequency analysis are known not reliable when running with BCM5700 (B0 and A11 board).

-Fixed bug ID 440, 552, 356, and 357.
-Help icon added for SLB config (ID 354 )


bascs_v1.04 (11/01/00)
- Updated the BASP team configuration to allow only team with SLB type has Standby member,
  and validate the changes when changing team type via node property.
- Fixed the problems of only Standby member exists without assigning Load Balance member
  within a team.
- Enhanced the data serialization and thread synchronization in Diagnostics.

 Note: For this release, make sure you are using v.0.7 of NDIS driver, most recent
       BASP driver(1.1.0), and new BCM5700 (10580-10 Rev.000 )nic card.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
