Installing HCF Generic Modem on Win2K	
									
A. Extract generic modem driver:
	1. After downloaded the HCF generic driver for Win 2000/XP, extract the
	   driver by double click on the Win2k_xp.exe file.

B. Upgrading your current modem driver:
	1. Double click on the HXFsetup.exe file inside "c:\HCF Modem".  If the 
	   "Add new hardware wizard" asks for the location of the driver, 
	   follow the steps below.
	2. Select Yes when a "Digital Signature Not Found" window appears.
	3. Click Next.
	2. Select "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that
	   I can choose a specific driver" and click Next.
	3. Click on Have Disk.
	4. Type "C:\HCF Modem" and Click OK.
	5. Make sure the device name is called "Generic - HCF PCI Modem"
	   and click Next.
	6. Select Yes on the "Update Driver Warning" and click Next.
	7. Select Yes when a "Digital Signature Not Found" window appears.
	8. Click Finish when the installation is completed.


Installing HCF Generic Modem on WinXP	
									
	If your modem is supported by the WinXP inbuild driver, WinXP should
	automatically install your modem when you upgrade your operation system
	from Win98SE/WinME/Win2000.  If your modem is not supported by the WinXP
	inbuild driver, WinXP will prompt you for the driver and you can select
	Cancel because you do not have a suitable driver for your modem at this
	time.  You will have to ask for a WinXP driver from your modem manufacturer
	or you can use this WinXP generic driver.

	If you want to upgrade your WinXP inbuild driver to this latest driver or
	if your modem does not supported by WinXP inbuild driver and you want to use
	this driver.  Please follow the instructions below.	

A. Extract generic modem driver:
	1. After downloaded the HCF generic driver for Win 2000/XP, extract the
	   driver by double click on the Win2k_xp.exe file.

B. Upgrading your current modem driver:
	1. Double click on the HXFsetup.exe file inside "c:\HCF Modem".  If you
	   see a pop-up window indicates that the software has not passed Windows
	   Logo testing, just select Continue Anyway.  Then if the 
	   "Add new hardware wizard" asks for the location of the driver, 
	   follow the steps below.
	2. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click
	   Next.
	3. Then select "Don't search.  I will choose the driver to install." and
	   click Next.
	4. Click on Have Disk.
	5. Type "C:\HCF Modem" and Click OK.
	6. Make sure the device name is called "Generic - HCF PCI Modem"
	   and click Next.
	7. You will get another pop-up message indicates the software has not
	   passed Windows Logo testing again, and you should select Continue
	   Anyway.
	8. Click Finish when the installation is completed.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
