Q: Do you have newly released PCMCIA driver that integrates both drivers for the system's and port replicator's PCMCIA controller, because the old driver is not very user friendly? 

A: We have an integrated driver for both system and port replicator PCMCIA controllers.
Please follow instructions below for installation.

For Windows 98 installation:
1. Windows 98 automatically detects a new hardware during either OS installation or docking port replicator.  Press "Next" when a            "Add New Hardware Wizard" window shows up.
2. Click on "Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended)" and press "Next".
3. Put a checkmark on "Specify a location:" and press "Browse" to specify the PCMCIA driver location on your F7400 driver CD rev.       1.2 at \\PCMCIA\WIN98, then press "Next".  You can also download it from                    http://www.asus.com.tw/Products/Notebook/F7400/drivers.html.
4. Win98 will find the driver.  Press "Next" to continue.
5. Press "Finish" and press "YES" to Restart the computer. The installation procedure is completed.

For Windows 95 installation:
1. After installing Windows 95 or docking port replicator, run \\PCMCIA\WIN95\SETUP.EXE from your F7400 driver CD rev. 1.2.        You can also download it from http://www.asus.com.tw/Products/Notebook/F7400/drivers.html.
2. Go to "Control Panel" -> "Settings" -> "System" -> "Device Manager".
3. Double click on "Other devices" and select "PCI CardBus Bridge", then press "Properties".
4. A "PCI CardBus Bridge Properties" window will show up, select "Driver", then press "Update Driver".
5. A "Update Device Driver Wizard" window will show up, press "Next".
6. Press "Other Locations..." and press "Browse" to specify the PCMCIA driver location on your F7400 driver CD rev. 1.2                       at\\PCMCIA\WIN95, then press "OK" twice.  You can also download it from                             http://www.asus.com.tw/Products/Notebook/F7400/drivers.html.
7. Press "Finish" and then press "Close" to update the "PCI CardBus Bridge" driver.
8. If there is any "PCI CardBus Bridge" under "Other devices", the update driver procedure is the same as above.

For NT4.0 installation:
The CardWizard for NT4.0 is the only driver you need for both F7400 system's and port replicator's PCMCIA controllers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
