Dell(TM) Solution Center 1.3 Release Notes

This document contains the latest update information for
the Dell Solution Center. It is organized into the 
following sections:

Installation Notes

The Dell Solution Center will only display applications that 
are installed into their original default directories on your 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The Dell Solution Center requires the 
factory-installed version of the operating system, or an 
installation from the Dell Dimension Recovery CD that shipped 
with your computer.  If a retail version (not factory-
installed by Dell) of an operating system is used, it is 
possible that the Dell Solution Center will not install or 
function correctly.

Recommended installation type is 'Typical'.

When using Windows 2000, it is necessary to log in as 
'Administrator' for the Dell Solution Center to install 

Un-Installation Notes

If you uninstall the Dell Solutions Center on a Dimension 
computer with the eButton, there will be drivers left on it 
to allow them to work properly.

If you uninstall the Dell Solutions Center in Windows Me, 
an Undo CAB file will be left in order to properly clean up 
the Help and Support tool.

Application Notes

There are no scroll bars for the application if it is reduced
in size from the optimal configuration (which is?).

There may be an unusable scroll bar for the application on 
the right hand side of the window in 1024x768 mode.

The About box is in English, regardless of the language in 
which the operating system and software is shipped.

When you first boot your system, the Dell Solution Center 
link for Norton Ant-Virus may return an error.  This issue 
will be resolved permanently upon the second boot of your

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
