                  PC Card (PCMCIA) Support



Requirements
  
HP OmniBook 800 with retail Windows 95A installed.
HP OmniBook Support Utility Disk and floppy disk drive.
HP OmniBook Recovery CD and CD-ROM drive.

NOTE:  This procedure is only to be performed on the A version of Windows
       95.  To verify what version you have, double click on the System icon
       in the Control Panel.  Under the 'General' tab you will find a System:
       field and the following information:
		
		Microsoft Windows 95
		4.00.950a

       If you see something other than that, do not perform this procedure.


Procedure

1.   Connect the OmniBook floppy disk drive and CD-ROM drive.
2.   Insert the OmniBook Support Utility Disk in the floppy disk drive.
3.   Insert the OmniBook Recovery CD in the CD-ROM drive.
4.   Reboot the OmniBook.
5.   Select MS-DOS prompt With Built in SCSI CD-ROM Support.
6.   At the DOS prompt, type G: to change to the CD-ROM drive.
7.   Type: CD \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\PCCARD\95OAONLY
8.   Type: COPY *.VXD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
9.   Type: COPY PCMCIA.INF C:\WINDOWS\INF
10.  Type: COPY PCMCIA.REG C:\
11.  Remove the OmniBook Support Utility Disk from the floppy disk drive
12.  Reboot the OmniBook into Windows 95.
13.  Open a DOS window
14.  Type: REGEDIT C:\PCMCIA.REG
15.  Type: DEL C:\PCMCIA.REG
16.  Reboot the OmniBook into Windows 95.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
