			Installing Sound Drivers

System Installation Requirements

HP OmniBook 800 with Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups installed.

HP OmniBook 800 Audio Drivers.  These drivers are located on the hard disk in
   C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WFW\SOUND.  These drivers are also located on the
   HP OmniBook 800MMX Recovery CD in the \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WFW\SOUND directory.

Procedure

First copy all the files in this subdirectory to a 3.5 inch diskette, then 
follow the procedure below:  (be sure to copy subdirectories also)

1.  Insert Audio driver installation diskette into drive A.
2.  Boot into Windows 3.1x.
3.  Pull-down File menu and select Run option.
4.  Type 'A:\SETUP' and hit <ENTER>.
5.  Setup will start installation of drivers, select
    'OK' when prompted to continue with Setup.
6.  When prompted for hardware settings make sure the following choices are 
    selected (these should match the settings in the SCU):

	I/O Address:  220	IRQ:  5 	DMA:  1
        MPU-401 I/O:  300       FM:   388     
        Joystick I/O: 201       	  Wave2 DMA:  0

    Disregard the Joystick setting.

7.  Then select Restart if you want changes to take effect.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
