I. Special Considerations
==========================

From a DOS
prompt, run the SETUP24 utility to view the card's
configuration, or to configure the media type.

The following files are required for installation:

OEMSETUP.INF Windows for Workgroups 3.11 Setup
                information file
  AT2450.386 NDIS 3.0 ATI Driver
  AT2450.DOS NDIS 2.0 ATI Driver
  AT24ODI.COM For ODI type driver

To de-install the NDIS2 driver, remove the driver line from
the CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT file, or comment it out, and
reboot.

To de-install the NDIS3 driver, use the WFW control panel.

If, after installing and loading the driver an error
message is returned indicating that the device could not be
found, and you have verified that the BIOS setup and/or the
PCI setup procedure for the slot in use is correct, then
re-load the driver with the following switch in the
appropriate configuration file for your driver:

    BUSTYPE = PCI1

The exact format of this switch will depend upon the driver
in use. For example, for the ODI workstation driver, add
this line to the NET.CFG file in the LINK DRIVER section
for the AT-2450 card (omit the = sign). For the NDIS 2.0
driver, add this line to the AT-2450 section of the
PROTOCOL.INI file. This switch is not needed for the NDIS 3
driver.

you are adding any TCP/IP software, this
configuration will satisfy the NDIS 2.0 requirements
of those systems. However, you may choose to use
only the NDIS 3.0 driver instead. This will free up
conventional memory, and may improve performance.

III. Upgrading From AT-2450 NDIS 2.0 Driver
============================================

IMPORTANT - If you have already installed Windows for
Workgroups and the AT2450.DOS NDIS 2.0 driver, follow the
numbered steps in this section.

The initial installation copies the OEMSETUP.INF to your
WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. It renames the file to OEMx.INF,
where x is a number starting with 0 for drivers that are
not shipped with Windows for Workgroups; this also pertains
to video and printer drivers.

1. Delete the OEMx.INF file(s) from the WINDOWS\SYSTEM
directory, where is the number corresponding to the
OEM file for the AT-2450 driver.

Otherwise, Windows for Workgroups will not allow any
upgrades or changes to existing drivers. If you have
installed only one other driver, the file has the
    following name:

    OEM0.INF 609 bytes 8/11/93

If you are not sure if which OEMx.INF file to delete,
use a text editor to view the file. It will contain
    references to ATI.

All references to the AT2450 driver in the "Network
Setup", "Drivers" dialog box will have been removed.

2. From the "Network" group in Program Manager, choose
    "Network Setup".

3. In the "Network Setup" dialog box, choose "Networks".

4. In the "Networks" dialog box, verify that "Install
Microsoft Windows Network" is selected. Then choose
    "OK".

5. In the "Network Setup" dialog box, choose "Sharing".

6. In the "Sharing" dialog box, select whether to allow
file and/or printe sharing with other users.

7. In the "Network Setup" dialog box, choose "Drivers".
Then, in the "Network Drivers" dialog box, choose "Add
    Adapter".

8. In the "Add Network Adapter" dialog box, select
"Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter". Then choose "OK".

9. Insert the AT-2450 CardAssistant diskette into your
floppy drive. Then, in the text box of the "Install
    Driver" dialog box, choose "OK".

10. In the "Network Adapters" list of the "Unlisted or
Updated Network Adapter" dialog box, verify that "ATI
AT2450" is highlighted. Then choose "OK".

AT2450 [NDIS2/NDIS3]" and its default protocols,
"Microsoft NetBEUI" and "IPX/SPX Compatible Transport
with NetBIOS", appear in the "Network Drivers" list.
    Then choose "Close".

12. In the "Network Setup" dialog box, choose "OK".

13. If prompted, insert the required Windows for Workgroups
diskette(s) into your floppy drive and then choose "OK".

14. If prompted, reinsert the CardAssistant diskette into
your floppy drive. In the text box of the "Install
    Driver" dialog box, choose "OK".

V. Adding Multiple Cards and Binding to the MAC Address
    ====================================================

If you run multiple cards with different protocols, you
must bind your protocol to the Mac address of the card. If
you bind the wrong Mac address or type in an incorrect
address, your system will reset when loading Windows. This
is because the driver, while scanning the PCI bus, could
not find a card with the MAC address it was scanning for.
EDIT your PROTOCOL.INI file (in the WINDOWS directory) by
adding the correct MAC_ADDRESS=XXXXXX. Alternately to
correct this condition, boot DOS, CD to the WINDOWS
directory, and type "NET"<cr> to start your Network
Services. Now load WINDOWS and correct the MAC address
settings using (Steps 7 and 8) below.

1. From the "Network" group in Program Manager, choose
    "Network Setup".

2. In the "Network Setup" dialog box, choose "Drivers".
Then, in the "Network Drivers" dialog box, choose "Add
    Adapter".

3. In the "Add Network Adapter" dialog box, select
"Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter". Then choose "OK".

4. Insert the AT-2450 CardAssistant diskette into your
    floppy drive and choose "OK".

5. In the "Network Adapters" list of the "Unlisted or
Updated Network Adapter" dialog box, verify that "ATI
AT2450" is highlighted. Then choose "OK".

6. In the "Network Drivers" dialog box, verify that "ATI
AT2450 [NDIS2/NDIS3]" and its default protocols,
"Microsoft NetBEUI" and "IPX/SPX Compatible Transport
with NetBIOS", appear in the "Network Drivers" list.
If you are using the same protocols for both network
cards then choose "Close" and go to step 9. If you want
to assign a MAC address to a specific network card
follow steps 7 and 8 below.

7. In the "Network Drivers" dialog box, choose "Setup".
From the "ATI AT2450" dialog box choose "Advanced".
From the "Mac Address 0000F4xxxxxx" list select
"Value", and enter the last six digits of the network
card you are configuring and select "Set"; then select
    "OK".

8. In the "ATI AT2450" dialog box and from the "Driver
Type" drop down list select the Protocol you want to
assign to the Mac Address you entered in the prior
    dialog box, and choose "OK".

9. In the "Network Drivers" dialog box, choose "Close".

10. In the "Network Setup" dialog box, choose "OK".

11. If prompted, insert the required Windows for
Workgroups diskette(s) into your floppy drive and then
    choose "OK".

12. If prompted, reinsert the CardAssistant diskette into
your floppy drive. In the text box of the "Install
    Driver" dialog box, choose "OK".

13. From the "Windows Setup" dialog box, choose "Restart
Computer". Then, when the DOS BIOS message appears,
reboot your computer by turning the power switch off
and on. Do NOT use the reset button or
    <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Delete>.
