Special Considerations II. Installing the AT-2450 OS/2 ODI driver I. Special Considerations ========================== Notes: Be sure you have the NetWare Requester Version 2.0 or above if you are using OS/2 Version 2.0 or above. From a DOS prompt, run the SETUP24 utility if necessary to manually view the card's configuration, or to configure the media or duplex mode. See manual for details. In PCI machines with the PCI 2 bus, the processor may cycle indefinitely through the bootup process if the adapter card is not installed but the driver is loaded. This can happen if the adapter card has been removed from the computer, yet the driver files are loaded. Since it is not always possible to determine if you are running a PCI 1 vs a PCI 2 bus on your processor, DO NOT LOAD A DRIVER WITHOUT AN ADAPTER CARD INSTALLED. To de-install the driver, remove or REM the driver line from the CONFIG.SYS file. II. Installing the AT-2450 OS2 ODI driver ========================================= 1. Insert the "WSOS2_1" diskette in the appropriate drive and then enter "Install". 2. From the installation menu, choose "Installation" and "Requester on Workstation". 3. From the next menu, "Set Target Directory", enter the target drive/directory and the source drive. The default target is "C:\NETWARE", and the default drive is "A:". Choose "OK" to continue. 4. Choose "Edit CONFIG.SYS and Copy All Files" from the "Requester Information" menu. 5. At the "Choose the ODI LAN Driver" menu, hit the down arrow on the driver box so the program will prompt you for the "WSDRV_1" disk or the third party ODI driver disk. Insert the CardAssistant diskette and press Enter or select "OK". "AT2450.SYS" should appear - choose "OK". 6. From the "Choose NetWare Support for DOS and Windows Applications" menu, choose the type of NetWare shell support you need for your applications. 7. From the "Choose Optional Protocols" menu, choose the protocol your applications will require to communicate. 8. From the "Copy ODI LAN Driver Files" screen, you will be prompted to insert either the WSOS2_DRV or a third-party driver diskette. Insert the ATI CardAssistant diskette. The installation program will automatically search for the ODI driver and copy it and its support files to the directory you chose in the beginning. 9. Save settings and exit back to the main menu. Choose "Configure" if you need to use a frame type other than ETHERNET_802.3. You can easily make changes to the "NET.CFG". If you have a PCI-1 bus in your system, add the line: BUSTYPE PCI1 to the NET.CFG file, i.e.: LINK DRIVER AT2450 BUSTYPE PCI1 Otherwise the driver may not find the card. If you don't know which bus you have, try loading without the option. If it loads, you don't need it. Note: The NET.CFG must remain in the root directory of the drive the requester resides for custom settings to work. 10. Shut down OS/2, and re-boot the system. You should see the ATI ODI driver load as the system comes back up. You should now be able to log in to the network. **END**Download Driver Pack
