III. Manual Installation

I.  Special Considerations
==========================

From a DOS prompt, run the SETUP24 utility if necessary to
manually view the card's configuration, or to configure the
media or duplex mode, or to run Diagnostics. See manual for
details.

To de-install the driver, start NetWare and consult the
NetWare documentation.

II. Installing the AT-2450: New Server Installation
===================================================

1. Follow the directions provided by Novell to install the
   server files to a DOS partition on your server hard
   drive.

2. When the Install program prompts for the LAN driver,
   press <Insert> to specify a driver not listed. Insert
   the AT-2450 CardAssistant diskette into a drive and
   press <F3> to change the default path to A:\NWSERVER.
   Press <Enter> as prompted. The AT2450.LAN and other
   required files will be copied to the SYS: volume.

3. On the next menu, "Driver 2450 Parameters", specify a
   node address (NET= on the bind command line).

4. Select the desired Ethernet frame types. The default is
   "802.2 and 802.3".

5. Proceed with the installation as outlined by Novell.

III. Manual Installation
========================

1. At the file server console prompt, type:

    LOAD <DRIVE>:\<DIRECTORY>\AT2450

   The default frame type is ETHERNET_802.2. If you wish
   you use another, specify "FRAME=" on the command line.

   To load multiple frame types for a single card, the
   command line option BOARD = n should be added,

   where n is the arbitrary board number, e.g., 1 or 2,
   etc.

   Example:
   LOAD C:\SERVER.312\AT2450 FRAME=ETHERNET_802.3 BOARD=1

   Also: If you have a PCI-1 bus in your system, add
   BUSTYPE=PCI1 to the command line, i.e.
   LOAD <DRIVE>:\<DIRECTORY>\AT2450 BUSTYPE=PCI1.
   Otherwise the driver may not find the card. If you don't
   know which bus you have, try loading without the option.
   If it loads, you don't need it.

2. Next you must bind the LAN driver to IPX in order to
   attach to the server. Type:

    BIND IPX TO AT2450 NET=n

   where n is the node address for Novell uses for routing
   IPX packets.

Here's an example of how the commands would look in your
AUTOEXEC.NCF file. ("NCF Files Options - Create / Edit
Server Startup Files")

  LOAD AT2450 FRAME=Ethernet_802.3 (overrides default frame
                                    type)
  BIND IPX to AT2450 net=1 (all servers on the LAN
                                    need the same #)

Any other parameters are independent of the configuration
of the AT-2450, and they are described in detail in
Novell's documentation.
