III. Changing Driver Configurations
I. Special Considerations
==========================
From a DOS prompt, run the SETUP24 utility if necessary to
manually view the card's configuration, or to configure the
media or duplex mode. See manual for details.
In PCI machines with the PCI 2 bus, the processor may cycle
indefinitely through the bootup process if the adapter card
is not installed but the driver is loaded. This can happen
if the adapter card has been removed from the computer, yet
the driver files are loaded. Since it is not always
possible to determine if you are running a PCI 1 vs a PCI 2
bus on your processor,
DO NOT LOAD A DRIVER WITHOUT AN ADAPTER CARD INSTALLED.
To de-install the driver, remove the driver line from the
CONFIG.SYS file, or comment it out, and reboot.
If, after installing and loading the driver an error
message is returned indicating that that the device could
not be found, and you have verified that the BIOS setup
and/or the PCI setup procedure for the slot in use is
correct, add the following line to the AT-2450 section of
your PROTOCOL.INI file:
BUSTYPE = PCI1
II. Installing the LAN Server v3.0 - OS/2 LAPS Driver
======================================================
1. Insert the "LAPS - LAN Adapter and Protocol Support"
diskette in the appropriate drive. Then enter "LAPS". On
the "Target Drive" menu, select which drive you want the
support files installed to. The installation program
will automatically copy over the files, and bring you
back to the main menu.
2. Choose "Install" again to copy over the ATI OS/2 NDIS
driver. The "Install Additional Network Drivers" menu
will appear and you will be prompted to supply the
source drive & path to the network information files
[.NIF files]. Insert the ATI CardAssistant diskette, and
type the path - "<DRIVE>:\IBMLAN.OS2". The NDIS driver
and NIF will be copied to the "IBMCOM\MACS" sub-
directory. If the operation is successful, you should
see "Installation Complete". Then choose "OK" to
continue.
3. From the main menu, choose "Configure" to select the ATI
network adapter and the protocol your network uses. In
the upper left window - "Network Adapters", either
double-click on the ATI Adapter, or highlight it and
click on "Add" beneath the window. You will see your
selection appear in the lower left window - "Current
Configuration".
4. From the "Protocols" window, select "NetBIOS" to be the
network communication protocol. You can select multiple
protocols depending on the applications you will be
using. Then, choose "Add" or double- click the left
mouse button to select the protocols you need. Then,
choose "OK".
5. Choose "Exit" to complete the installation. You will be
prompted to update the "CONFIG.SYS" file on drive C:.
Choose "Continue", and your CONFIG.SYS file will be
updated for LAN support.
6. Shut down OS/2, and reboot your computer by pressing the
reset button, or by turning the power switch off and on.
Do NOT use <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Delete>. As the system boots,
you should see the NDIS and protocol drivers loading.
You are now ready to continue installing LAN Server.
7. If this machine is to be a server, insert the "Server
Installation Diskette 1" in the appropriate drive, and
then enter "LANINST". If this machine will only be a
workstation, insert the "OS/2 Requester Installation
Diskette 1" diskette and then enter "LANINST". Assign a
machine name and domain when prompted, and then insert
the appropriate diskettes.
8. Installation is complete, and you are now ready to
communicate over the network. Refer to the LAN Server
documention to set up users and resource sharing.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
