<<General>>
2. When you add additional RAM memory, only this additional memory will
be available for your printer.
<<Driver Settings>>
3. We recommend to not use the Separator Page.
4. When you want to print multiple copies with N-Up or Duplex features
selected, we recommend that you follow the next two steps:
- Uncheck "Collate" on the Print dialog of the application in use,
if available.
- When printing a file with the Duplex feature selected and an odd number
of pages, insert an extra blank page at the end of the document using the
Header, Footer or Body on the page and typing a "Space" in it to make the
total page count of the file an even number.
You may also add a blank page by depressing the "Enter" key until you see
another page generated or the cursor moves past "Page break".
5. When you print color images and graphics, we reccomend that you select=
the
"black and white" mode on print dialogs of some applications or uncheck
"Print in Color" option on application print dialog.
6. When you are removeing a Duplex unit, we recommend that you select "Off"
from duplex combo box on Page Layout tab, then remove the duplex option
on Device Option tab.
7. To increase the performance of printing under heavy condtion; a
large and complicated document, printing with Duplex or higher resolution
options selected, use the following solutions;
1) Close the Status Display during printing.
2) Increase size of virtual memory from control panel of your PC.
3) Delete unnecessary files enough to keep a proper swap file size on
a hard disk.
4) Close unnecessary applications or put additional memory on the printer.
8. If you often get an error in printing with ECP or Output ONLY mode
using Micron PC system (Model Millennia Xku type only), change to a
different parallel port mode from the BIOS setup.
9. Please don't use J-POST paper size to print.
10. We identified that the following PCs can print with ONLY EPP mode:
- Gateway Solo 9100XL, PentiumII, 366MHz
- Dell Inspiration 3200D, PentiumII, 233MHz
- Compaq Armada 3500, PentiumII, 366 MHz
If "BI-DIRECTIONAL" is disable in the driver, these PCs can print
with the other parallel modes:Nibble, Bi-directional, and ECP.
However, status monitor won't function with "BI-DIRECTIONAL" off
status.
The following explains how to turn off "BI-DIRECTIONAL" in the driver.
On Windows95/98, open Properties of the driver, click Details tab and
click a push button for Spool Settings to open Spool Settings dialog.
On this dialog, select "Disable bi-directional support for the printer".
On WindowsNT4.0, open Properties of the driver and click Ports tab.
On this tab, turn off a check mark for "Enable bi-directional support".
<<Network Printing>>
11. When you print with watermark option in a Windows95/98 shared printer
environment, we recommend that you change Spool Data Format to RAW in
Spool Settings of the driver property section.
12. To utilize peer-to-peer (P2P) printing, always install the driver
to the LPT port first, then setup the P2P utility.
13. When you choose a network printer server, we recommend to select Local
Printer and an LPT port first during installation (don't print the Test
Page), then go to a property dialog of the driver to configure the
network port by selecting proper printer queue. Now you can print
the Test Page to check the connection.
When a Novell NetWare Print Server is used, always install a NetWare
client Networks, which is called "Novell NetWare Client 32", before
installing the NetWare printer Server.
14. To optimize printing speed by using a NetWare Print Server from
Windows NT 4.0, we recommend that you uninstall the peer-to-peer (P2P)
utility first. To uninstall the NetWare Print Server, we recommnd
to use one of IP-P2P utilities.
15. When you print Microsoft Word documents through a Network Printer,
we recommend that you change Spool Data Format to RAW in Spool Settings
of the driver property section.
16. There are three ways to perform " Print to File" when network
printing:
1) Attach a local printer and select an LPT port, then select the
"Print to File" check box.
2) Disable "Bi-Directional Support" for the printer in Spool Settings.
3) Install a second printer driver to be used for Port File.
<<PostScript Option (ZScript driver)>>
17. A Win.ini with over 64KB might prevent you from installing a ZScript
driver (PostScript Option) on Windows95/98. Removing the PostScript=
fonts,
which is installed by the Zscript, from Win.ini file may resolve the=
issue.
18. Options of the GDI driver of the Minolta PageWorks/Pro 18L are
always valid for the options of the ZScript driver (PostScript Option).
<<Status Display>>
19. When you suspect that an error message from the Status Display is
incorrect, we recommend to go to File menu to Exit the Status Display
and reopen it.
20. If you experience image problems in the Status Display when using
Number 9 Video Card installed in your PC system, change the Color
Palette to a lower number of colors using the Display Properties in
the Control Panel.
21. If print jobs stop during printing multiple copies with Status
Display open, close the Status Display first using File/Exit, then press
the Action Key on the front panel of the printer for about 10 seconds
until all LEDs light. If printing does not resume, turn off and on the
printer power switch.
If printing continues to stop while printing large and complex files,
add more memory to the printer.
<<Application Compatibility>>
22. If your driver settings are not executed properly, check the print
settings of the application because these settings can override the
values in the driver property dialog boxes. This behavior is different
depending on application types.
For example, the values in the driver property dialog boxes override
the Micrografx Designer settings.
23. Some applications do not support all Minolta PageWorks/Pro 18L
features. Usually the applications simply ignore the features, but
in rare cases, a printing error may occur. For example, we reccomend
not to use Scaling or N-Up with the Minolta PageWorks/Pro 18L driver
when using CorelDraw, Corel Presentation, and MathCad.
24. When you print a Microsoft Excel 97 file with multiple worksheets
using the Entire Workbook option you change all the settings for each
worksheet from Page Setup in File menu.
25. As long as WordPad or Paint application is used to print using
the Minolta PageWorks/Pro 18L , please set the driver as the fedault
printer from the Printers Folder if you have multiple printers available
or go to Page Setup to select the Minolta PageWorks/Pro 18L every time=
on
Windows95 platform.
