Windows NT PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO BEGINNING! HARDWARE INSTALLATION Note: For operation in Windows NT, install the network adapter after the Windows NT Operating System has been installed. 1. Power off the PC and remove its cover. Turn off the computer and all peripherals. Follow the instructions in your PC User's Guide to remove the cover. 2. Insert and secure the adapter. Select any available PCI slot and remove the slot cover. Carefully install the adapter into the expansion slot by firmly pressing the card into the slot until the adapter is snugly seated. Fasten the retaining bracket with the screw from the slot cover. 3. Replace the PC cover. Replace the computer's cover and reconnect any previously disconnected cables. 4. Repeat the above procedure to fit the network adapter into any other computers to be networked. You are now ready to physically connect this computer to the hub using twisted pair cable (UTP). CONNECTING TO THE 10/100MBS HUB 1. To connect the UTP cable to the hub, align the RJ-45 connector on one end of the twisted-pair cable with the notch on the network adapter's RJ-45 port and insert it into the port until it clicks into place. 2. Align the RJ-45 connector on the other end of the twisted-pair cable with the notch on one of the hub's RJ-45 ports and insert it until it clicks into place. 3. Repeat the procedure in steps 1 and 2 to connect the other PCs to the hub. NOTE: You cannot connect the nodes directly to each other through straight twisted-pair cable. 4. Plug the hub power adapter into an AC power source and then into the hub's power socket. Your network components are now connected. NOTE: There is no power switch on the hub. Once the power adapter is connected, the hub is powered on. Your network is now ready for software installation. DRIVER INSTALLATION IN WINDOWS NT 4.0 1. Start the computer and allow Windows NT to start normally. 2. Log onto the machine using the Administrator account or an account with Administrator privileges. 3. Double-click My Computer, double-click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the Network icon to open the Network window. Select the Adapters tab. NOTE: If you have not installed Windows NT Networking on your computer before, a message will appear: Windows NT Networking is not installed. Do you want to install it now? If this message appears, click on Yes to start the network setup wizard. Check the Wired to Network option, then click Next. Click on Select From List... to select a network adapter, then go to step 6. 5. Click Add. The select network adapter box will open. 6. Click Have Disk. 7. Insert the driver diskette into drive A: (or B:) and then type A:\Winnt40 (or B:\Winnt40). 8. Click OK. The Select OEM Option dialog box will open. 9. When the NDC 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter (MX-A) appears in the box, click Next. 10. The Network Setup Window will open and the NDC 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter (MX-A) will be listed in the box. Click Next to continue. 11. In the Network Protocols List, uncheck TCP/IP Protocol and put a check next to the NetBEUI protocol. Click on Next to continue. 12. Click on Next to continue past the Network Services list. 13. Click Next to install the Selected Network Components. NOTE: Depending on your current installation of Windows NT, the setup program may ask you to insert the Windows NT CD-ROM. Type in the location of your Windows NT source files. (CD-ROM, hard disk, or floppy disks.) and click Continue. 14. The NDC 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter (MX-A) setup window will open. The default setting for the Connection Type is set to "Speed AutoDetect." Click Continue when Connection Type is set to Speed AutoDetect. 15. Click Next when presented with the window that displays: "Show Bindings For: All Services." 16. Click Next when prompted to start the network. 17. You must specify a computer name and workgroup or domain. Choose a name to identify your computer on the network (for example, Sam), your workgroup (for example, Accounting), and brief description of your computer (for example, Sam's Accounting Machine), and then click Next. If you are joining a domain, contact your Network Administrator for more information. NOTE: The computer name must be unique for each computer on the network and should be no longer than 15 characters in length. In small networks, the workgroup name should normally be the same for each computer so that all computers are visible in the same workgroup. (Not required for the Lantastic network) Avoid using spaces and the following characters in the computer and workgroup names: / \ * , " @. 18. Click Finish to complete the network setup. 19. The Network Settings Change dialog box will ask you if you want to restart your computer. Remove the floppy disk any floppy disks from the drive and click Yes to complete the installation and restart the PC. Your basic computer network is now setup and you are ready to begin networking. Install the Lantastic network software according to the instructions included with that software. UNINSTALLING THE FAST ETHERNET ADAPTER DRIVER You may need to uninstall the adapter for the following reasons: 1. The installation fails or is interrupted by unknown factors. 2. You want to remove the device. The uninstall process is as follows: Restart the computer and then proceed as follows: 1. Double-click My Computer, double-click Control Panel. 2. Double-click the Network icon to open the Network window. 3. Select the NDC 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter (MX-A) from the Adapter tab and click the Remove button. 4. Click OK to reboot the PC.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
