Installing OmniBook Docking System Support To use the OmniBook in the full dock, you will need to configure additional hardware profiles, install additional IDE and SCSI drivers, and then configure which drivers will be enabled in which profile. In addition, you may wish to configure two undocked profiles, one that uses networking and one that doesn't. The OmniBook Docking System IDE driver is located on the hard drive under: \OMNIBOOK\DRIVER\DOCKING\IDE and \OMNIBOOK\DRIVER\DOCKING\SCSI and on the Recovery CD under: \OMNIBOOK\DRIVER\NT4\DOCKING\IDE and \OMNIBOOK\DRIVER\NT4\DOCKING\SCSI 1. Open Windows Explorer. 2. Click the View menu, then Options. 3. Select "Show all files" and uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types", then click OK. 4. Copy the DOCKING directory to C:\TEMP on the local hard-drive. 5. From the Control Panel, double-click SCSI Adapters, then click Drivers. 6. Click Add. 7. Click "Have Disk". 8. Enter C:\TEMP\DOCKING\IDE\WINNT and click OK. 9. Click OK to accept the "CMD 64xx 32-Bit IDE Adapter". 10. Enter C:\TEMP\DOCKING\IDE\WINNT and click Continue. 11. Click No when asked if you want to restart the system. 13. Click Add. 14. Click Have Disk. 15. Enter the C:\TEMP\DOCKING\SCSI\MINIPORT directory and click OK. 16. You can now dock the OmniBook in the OmniBook Docking System. When you start Windows NT out of the OmniBook Docking System you may receive errors concerning these drivers. These errors will cease to occur when you create hardware profiles and disable the appropriate docked hardware in the undocked profile. To create Windows NT Hardware profiles, do the following: 1. Double-click the System icon in the Control Panel. 2. Click the "Hardware Profiles" tab. 3. Click the original configuration profile, then click Copy, and enter a name for your docked configuration. 4. For each profile, click Properties on the Hardware Profiles tabs. - For the docked profile, click "This is a portable computer" on the "General" tab and click "The computer is docked". Click OK to close the profile properties window. - For the undocked profile, click "The computer is undocked". Click OK to close the profile properties window. 5. Move the profile you wish to be the default to the top by clicking the side arrows. 6. Click OK to close the "System Properties" window. 7. Double-click the Devices icon in the Control Panel. You will need to disable the appropriate devices in each hardware profile. 8. Locate device "Csa64xx" and click HW Profiles. This is the dock IDE driver, and should be disabled in all undocked profiles. Highlight each undocked profile and click Disable. Click OK to exit. 9. Locate device "Piixide" and click HW Profiles.
