Installing USB Support System Installation Requirements HP OmniBook 3000 with Windows 95 OSR2 installed. This can be verified by looking at the system properties (Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/), the Windows 95 version should be 4.00.950 B. HP OmniBook 3000 USB Drivers. These drivers are located on the hard disk in C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\USB. These drivers are also located on the HP OmniBook 3000 Recovery CD in the \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\USB directory. Procedure Copy Files in this directory onto a 3.5 inch floppy, then follow this procedure: 1. Copy the 3 inf files into the c:\windows\inf directory, overwrite as necessary. The three inf files are MACHINE.INF, USB.INF and MSHDC.INF. 2. Open up the Device Manager by clicking on the 'Device Manager' tab in System Properties. (Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/) 3. The following items should have yellow exclamation points associated with them and will need to be removed: Other Devices... PCI Universal Serial Bus PCMCIA socket... PCIC or compatible PCMCIA controller System devices.. IRQ Holder for PCI Steering 4. After you have removed those 3 devices, execute the USB.EXE command from an MS-DOS Prompt Window or double click on it with the Explorer. 5. After USB.EXE has been run, you will need to reboot your computer. 6. When Windows 95 restarts, the Update Device Driver Wizard will be active. Click on 'Next' to have it search for updated drivers. 7. The 'Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller' driver should be located, so press 'Finish'. At this point, the computer will begin to copy files, but then a 'Copying Files...' dialog box will appear claiming that "UHCD.SYS" could not be found. There will be a 'Browse' button, click it and use the resulting box to point the system to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. Click 'OK' on the two open dialog boxes and the file copy will complete. 8. Execute the USBUPD2.EXE command from an MS-DOS Prompt Window or double click on it with the Explorer. 9. Copy VMM.VXD to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32 and reboot your system.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
