			Installing Audio Support

System Installation Requirements

HP OmniBook 3000 with Windows 95 installed.  This can be verified by 
   looking at the system properties (Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/), the
   Windows 95 version should be 4.00.950B.

NOTE:  If you are installing these drivers on a previous version of Windows 95
       please follow the directions in the appropriate section.

HP OmniBook 3000 Audio Drivers.  These drivers are located on the hard disk in
   C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\SOUND.  These drivers are also located on the
   HP OmniBook 3000 Recovery CD in the \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\SOUND
   directory.

4.00.950B Procedure

Copy Files in this directory onto a 3.5 inch floppy, then follow this
procedure:

1.  Execute SETUP.EXE and then click on 'Install Driver' from the resulting
    dialog box.

2.  The next dialog box will prompt you to restart your computer to complete	
    the installation.  Click on 'Restart'.

3.  When the system restarts, the 'Update Device Drivers Wizard' will be 
    launched.  Click on 'Next' in the first dialog box.

4.  Windows will be maybe unable to locate your drivers.  If this is so, click
    on 'Other Locations...' and then either type in the location of your 
    drivers (the A: drive if you copied them to a floppy) or use the 'Browse'
    button to locate where they are, then click on 'OK'.

5.  Windows 95 will begin to copy files and then ask you for your driver disk, 
    you can just point it to your A: drive, or again use the 'Browse...' button
    to locate your drivers.  Click 'OK' to complete the file copy.


6.  Click on 'Finish' to complete your audio driver installation.


4.00.950/4.00.950a Procedure:

Copy Files in this directory onto a 3.5 inch floppy, then follow this
procedure:


1.  Open up the Device Manager (Start\Settings\Control Panel, then double click
    on System, then click on the 'Device Manager' tab)

2.  Double click on '? Other devices' and then locate the following device:

	?Unknown Device  with these resources:

		Direct Memory Access		01
		Direct Memory Access		00
		Interrup Request		05
		Input/Output Range		0530-0537
		Input/Output Range		0388-038B
		Input/Output Range		0220-022F

	Click on the Driver tab for this device and then double click on the
	'Change Driver' button.  Highlight 'Other detected devices' in the
	resulting box, then the Have Disk button.  Insert the floppy you made
	earlier and press OK.  Windows 95 will copy files and may ask for 
	your Windows 95 Installation CD to complete the task.

3.  When the above is done, the device manager should report a Sound, video
    and game controllers catagory that contains the Crystal PnP Audio System
    CODEC.

4.  Locate the last ?Unknown Device in the Other devices catagory and repeat
    the process outlined in step 2 to install the Crystal PnP Audio System
    Control Registers.

Your Installation should be complete.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
