Tioman for HP v3.10.05

USING TIOMAN

You will notice that once Tioman is installed on your
system, a small icon will be displayed in the lower
right hand corner of the taskbar whenever the computer
is running. This taskbar icon is your gateway into the
capabilities of Tioman.

The icon will give a visual cue for the currently inserted
device. You will immediately notice whether you currently
have a floppy or CD-ROM drive, or even no device in the
bay. Hovering over the icon will also display information
on your currently inserted drive.

Clicking on the icon will display the Tioman menu. This
offers menu items for swapping devices, getting help, as
well as more information on the Tioman software.

NOTES

Windows 98 is currently supported. Do not install the
software on a Windows NT system, or Winows 95 OSR1.
Always make sure the power is off to the device you
are removing before physically removing it.

KNOWN PROBLEMS

Sometimes you must select 'Both Primary and Secondary
enabled' for the IDE controller settings. Otherwise you
will see failures to detect devices when inserted.
If you cancel an uninstall, the taskbar icon is removed.
You must restart your system to reenable the icon.
You may experience device detection problems when
docking or undocking your notebook. Certain
applications that open files on a swappable device
may not be detected when selecting Swap Device.
You may experience errors or even system
crashes if you remove a device in this
case. Please make sure that all applications and
windows are closed for a device you wish to remove.
Swapping of INT13 devices is not supported. If you
boot the system with a hard disk in the bay, your
BIOS will detect the drive and Windows 95 will
configure it as an INT13 hard disk drive. To avoid
this, enter your BIOS setup and change the setting
for Secondary Master from Auto detection to None.
Once Windows is running, you can turn off the
INT13 setting for the hard disk drive in Device
Manager using the System icon under Control Panel.
This procedure may also apply to the LS120. We
recommend that you immediately remove a device after
performing a Remove Device command. Changing from
one device to another device while the system is
suspended (Warm Swapping) is supported but some
devices such as the LS120 are not supported in this
release. We recommend Hot Swapping whenever possible.
Changing diskette media during power suspend is not
detected by Windows. Tioman's detection of diskette
drives causes the loss of the media change
indication. In these cases the contents of the
previous diskette will still be displayed. You
can force the system to recognize the new
diskette by ejecting and reinserting the diskette
media.

Note: There is currently an incompatibility between the
Agate hot swap software and Windows 98 with DvD; when
the notebook boots, and there is no media in the DvD
drive, the notebook will hang.
