<ADDENDUM>
PLEASE DISREGARD ANY OTHER PREVIOUS DRIVER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS AND=
FOLLOW
THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE, PLEASE ALSO CHECK THE MINOLTA PRINTER WEB SITE FOR
THE MOST UPDATED PRINTER DRIVERS AND INFORMATION THROUGH=
WWW.MINOLTAPRINTERS.COM.
2. If you install the driver on Windows 3.1/3.11, make sure that
Win32s was already installed. If you did not install Win32s,
please install it and enable your Windiws3.1/3.11 system to be
32-bit environment. To find Win32s, please go to the following
Microsoft home page to download Win32s;
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q122/2/35.asp
After you finish the installation of Win32s, run
'\<printer name>\DRIVER\SETUP.EXE' from the Minolta Driver
Installer CD to complete the installation.
<<Network installation>>
3. Before installing the 'Minolta ColorPageWorks/Pro L' driver for a
network connected printer, such as NetWare, or peer-to-peer via NIC,
you need to install the 'Minolta ColorPageWorks/Pro L' driver for
"LPT1" first and then change the port to the desired network port.
During the driver installation for LPT1, please don't print the
TestPage when the dialog box displays 'Would you like to print a
test page?'. For your system doesn't connect to the LPT1 but
network with the printer.
4. When you want to print by using NetWare Print Sever from Windows
NT 4.0, and you have installed IP-P2P or IPX-P2P programs, data
transfer speed over NetWare Sever could be slower than expected.
In that case, you would be better to remove 'Peer To Peer' program.
<<Driver Setting>>
5. The 'Separator' button on the 'Minolta ColorPageWorks/Pro L' driver
can not be used for the 'Minolta ColorPageWorks/Pro L'.
6. When you want to print multiple copies of N-up page, you need to
uncheck 'collate' in the 'Printer' dialogue of the application that
you are using.
7. When you print 'Legal' documents, you need to select 'Legal' paper
from 'Page Setup' in the application, and otherwise the 'Minolta
ColorPageWorks/Pro L' cannot print properly.
8. When you want to use the 'Enhance Contrast' function in Image tab.
We suggest check the 'Enhance Contrast' in CPW-L driver, then
using the ZScript for printing to avoid the wrong outputs.
9. We identified that the following PCs can print with ONLY EPP mode:
- Gateway Solo 9100XL, PentiumII, 366MHz
- Dell Inspiration 3200D, PentiumII, 233MHz
- Compaq Armada 3500, PentiumII, 366 MHz
If "BI-DIRECTIONAL" is disable in the driver, these PCs can print
with the other parallel modes:Nibble, Bi-directional, and ECP.
However, status monitor won't function with "BI-DIRECTIONAL" off
status.
The following explains how to turn off "BI-DIRECTIONAL" in the driver.
On Windows95/98, open Properties of the driver, click Details tab and
click a push button for Spool Settings to open Spool Settings dialog.
On this dialog, select "Disable bi-directional support for the printer".
On WindowsNT4.0, open Properties of the driver and click Ports tab.
On this tab, turn off a check mark for "Enable bi-directional support".
10. If you turn on your PC during the printer's warmup status,
the printer does not print. In this case, turning off and on
the printer will make the printer prints correctly.
<<PostScript Option (ZScript)>>
11. Recommend users to use the CPW-L driver for printing. If the output
is incorrect, then use the ZScript driver instead for printing.
12. When you want to print an 'EPS' file, you need to install the
ZScript (PostScript) option, and print by using ZScript driver.
13. When you want to use the ZScript option for a remote printer, you
need to select desired printer from the 'Minolta ColorPageWorks/
Pro L'driver, not the ZScript driver (PostScript driver).
14. When you want to use ZScript, and if you have a lot of fonts (more
than 500), you may have difficulty installing the ZScript option,
because of the size limitation of 'Win.ini' in Windows. You may
need to remove some of these fonts to get ZScript to install.
15. When you install multiple drivers for the 'Minolta ColorPageWorks/
Pro L', you do not need to install ZScript more than once.
16. You need to uninstall the Masquerade before using the "Print to
file" function in NT4.0.
17. You need to set other than the ZScript printer as default in order to
remove the ZScript driver from Win3.1x.
18. During the installing of Masquerade in Win3.1, the J-Post selection
will appear. You need to use WPS.exe to free modules to complete
the installation. WPS.EXE is a utility that allows you to
selectively free modules that are in use by Windows. When you run
Masquerade it may "patch" the existing COMMDLG.DLL and PSCRIPT.DRV
files. In order to do this, no other application can be using these
files. If some other application is using one of these files and
Masquerade needs to patch it, then Masquerade will pop up a message
box saying "Need exclusive access to COMMDLG.DLL or PSCRIPT.DRV),
close any application that has it open and retry". If you close all
apps other than Program Manager and try again and the same error
occurs, you can use WPS to free COMMDLG.DLL and proceed to create
a Masquerade generated driver. Please refer to WPS-EXE for
installation instructions. WPS.exe located on
http://www.zeno.com/tech/sp50upd.html.
<<General>>
19. When you send a huge file with high resolution for printing. If the
Video Under-run occurs, then you need to change to lower resolution
and restart the printer.
20. If you have any difficulty printing to the 'Minolta ColorPageWorks/
Pro L', you may be able to resolve the problem by changing your
PC's BIOS setting for the 'Parallel Port'. IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR
WITH THE 'PC BIOS' SETTING, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THAT SETTING.
MINOLTA DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE AS A
RESULT OF YOUR ACTIONS.
<<Status Monitor>>
21. If you have any difficulty with the 'Status Monitor', you may need
to 'Exit' and start it again.
22. When you are printing, the response time period for the 'Status
Monitor' will be longer than when the printer is idle.
