README.TXT Driver File Contents (ackxy00.exe)

The folders in this directory are software patches and updates used for the first release of Windows 98. Your computer came pre-configured with the second edition of Windows 98, which already has these patches incorporated. Unless you are creating a "first edition" build, you do not need these updates.

To tell which version of Windows 98 you have, check your system properties (start:settings:control panel: system). In the upper right-hand corner of the window, if it reads 'Windows 98 Second Edition 4.10.2222', you have second edition, and do not need these updates. If the system control panel instead reads 'Windows 98 4.10.1998', you have the first edition of Windows 98, and may benefit from these updates. See \omnibook\drivers\readme.txt for installation information.
